    Trust Race Night

Just want to say well done to the lads for organising the race night last friday evening. It was a very enjoyable night. However it was very disappointing to see the poor turn out. Sean Connor was there along with two others from the commitee and it was a real shame there wasn't more supporters there on the night.
It all fine and well setting up a supporters trust but the there's no point in the lads going to all this effort if people don't come out and support. Its all in aid of the club we all support so next time lets hope more people turn out.

yeah tbh we were dissappointed that sligo rovers supporters showed little interest in this venture. It's all right to complain, point out things that are wrong but this was a chance for supporters to get involved and help things move forward. Dont think supporters can complain if they arent willing to get involved and help make positive changes. The trust will continue on, despite this knock.

Many thanks to those who came on the night, businessess who sponsored races and prizes, those who bought horses and also members of the MC and Sean Connor who supported the venture on the night.

While the final figure has to be finalised this week, it will be just above 2000 euro in total. It could have been alot more had supporters backed this. Hopefully we will still be able to contribute significantly to the funding needed to bring in better players in July. With quality of players always linked to money lets hope we supporters can raise a bid more before July.

First off a big thanks to the race sponsors(from London,Sligo and Dublin)and alll who bought horses to the Innsifree Hotel for providing the venue and Grahan Monaghan for setting up alll equipment on the night.

Just to re-iterate what Gary and Nephin have said very disappointed and disheartening with the response of Rovers Supporters on the night.

A lot of effort had gone into organising the night by the Trust committee and the night was widely advertised on the webiste, posters in town , Ocean FM and local papers yet the Rover supporetrs failed to turn up in any significant numbers.

Sean Connor was there as well as committee members and to say 15+ Rovers supporters turned up would be generous to say thel east.

If Rovers supporters are to be responsible for improving the team and theclub they will need to get more involved or else nothing will change. Now we have the chance to have significant input into the club and supporetrs do not grasp this then nothing will change...

As Gary said we will continue with the Trust and hopefully the supporters will come out in bigger numbers to help the club....
