Even if said player has made it pretty clear he doesn't want to stay at Norwich?

He's made it clear he wants out and if Norwich price him out of a move I actually hope he does kick up a stink. He's not gonna be anywhere near first choice and don't see him ahead of Ashley Barnes either for this season.

I think that's probably what'll happen alright, although there's always that element that a new manager will want to check out his new squad. The manager was quoted this week as saying "It’s nice to have him back on the pitch and I think he will be a valuable player for us. We consider Adam as an important player for us so that's why he got 30 minutes today which was important for him to get started and get back in the rhythm, nice and easy." Again, that could be playing up his transfer value, or he could really mean it.

But would be nice to get it sorted one way or another. Celtic's first league game is on Sunday fortnight.

Well, would Celtic give him such assurances?

I'd consider Celtic a marginal step up, although the league is obviously weaker. Between playing in front of the crowds they do, the chance to win multiple trophies and European football. So I think he'd be more likely to settle for rotation and not being first choice from the off, but he got decent game time last season, so I don't see why that couldn't continue and improve in time. He's also a Celtic fan by the looks of things. He has more than enough potential to be their main man in time, but the time to really deliver is fast approaching. I feel the same about where he is right now. His bad injury record is my biggest concern, never really getting a run of games, maintaining form and a place in a team, but towards the end of last season it felt like he was growing in to something better than he has been before.

He's got everything else to have an excellent career hopefully.

I think it’s a good situation all round. Celtic want him. His new manager at Norwich is clearly interested in taking a look at him. Perhaps other clubs we’re not aware of are sniffing around. Worst case scenario he sticks with Norwich, does nothing first half of the season, moves to Celtic at a discount.

If he had some major success with Norwich we could see him in the Prem soon enough one way or another. I’m optimistic he’s going to have a big season wherever he ends up.

Speculation about a move to Celtic continues, but Idah's presence in the stand rather than on the pitch v Magdeburg tonight was due to 'a knock' it seems. (Celtarehere.com)

Celtic banging in the goals in the meantime. I know it's only pre-season, but it's 18 in 4 games now. 6-4 v Queens Park (I know, I know...), 4-0 v DC United, 4-3 v Man City and 4-1 v Chelsea.

Next game is their league opener next week

According to Sam Seaman of Norwich fan site 'The Pink Un', and also to TeamTalk, Idah is attracting interest from Fiorentina and from Hellas Verona as well. He is expected to play some part in the Canaries' friendly v Hoffenheim this week.

Hellas Verona & Fiorentina to rival Celtic for Norwich City striker Adam Idah (footballleagueworld.co.uk)

I remember one of them Pinkun reports getting right ratty back in January when he was questioned about a report and turned out he hadn't a scooby doo what he was talking about. I'd say this is just agent talk to try get Celtic to up their bid.

Cynical, but probably correct :-). No mention of interest on the Football Italia website.

That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought of him as that kind of player tbh. Is this likely to be a concern for interested clubs? I'm thinking probably not, but still, not a great look.

Not a great look, no. He might argue he hasn't felt much or enough love there so is keen to move on.

Doubt Celtic will see it as a problem that Idah might be forcing Norwich's hand to get the deal done.

Very disrespectful. If a xlub could afford it then I'd like to see them hold on to him and make him see his contract out. The club are paying his wages he needs to be professional in return

Five year contract not long ago & the financial security of that for an unproven player at that point is a fair bit of love.

That's the way I'm leaning alright - they'll have dealt with him for five months anyway and will know what he's like.

Risk always is that Celtic feel their attack is doing fine at the moment and doesn't need strengthening, and now other suitors (Verona/Fiorentina) cool back a bit. But that's just football for you I guess.

Think the risk is Celtic buying another forward rather than not bringing anyone in. Kyogo is the only senior CF they have and Johnston actually played there in their last two games I believe.
