Back on the bench for the trip to Motherwell today. Bit of a surprise, that. They're 1-0 down at half-time so he could well get the second half yet.

Edit - and on at halftime alright

Edit edit - and scores within five minutes. His first from open play for them

Best 2 goals of his career imho. Not by themselves (good goals but nothing extraordinary) but in overall context - of both the game and how he needs to make an impact quickly. Just brilliant. Exactly what his Celtic career needs. Instant respect rather than scepticism.

Poor lad must be seriously conflicted this afternoon after that!

Fair play to Idah - granted Motherwell are League 2 standard, but given the circumstances - on at half time, Celtic behind in the game, looking like falling further behind in the title race, supporters far from convinced with him as a signing, a serious high pressure situation - scoring both the equaliser and injury time winner is a significant accomplishment.

Not sure what it says about the current state of Celtic that Norwich's third pick centre forward is rescuing them against Motherwell, but for Idah himself it's a big step forward.

I only watched the last 10 minutes as I slept in a bit this morning but he played very well it has to be said. The winning goal was a fine finish given the narrative around him alright.

They broke before the third goal and he did really well to retain the ball with some close passing then instead of a head down run towards the goal, he carried the ball to the corner flag and killed 20-30 seconds before winning a throw. Fans seemed to really respond to that too.

Being very harsh but I'd have liked to have seen him attack the 6 yard box when Maeda drilled in a low cross on around 65/70 mins. For some (e.g., Ferguson maybe?) that's instinct but it's also improvable with good coaching. This guy could thrive with a specialist striker coach.

Worth commenting on the athleticism of his leap for the header too, not just the header itself.

Yeah agree him not getting on the Maeda cross should probably be considered a miss even though it wasn't an actual shot.

Absolutely delighted for him to get the injury time winner though to completely shift the narrative around him.

Say what you want around the standard in Scotland but you can't deny the pressure he's under playing as the 9 at Celtic. I just want to see him starting week in week out now and hit the 10 goal mark for the season.

Yep - bit like Kelleher playing the odd Cup game for Liverpool that they're not really that worried about. It's still pressure; just a different kind of pressure

Uniquely badly timed comparison. Guess you’re not watching then.

Well ok - not an ideal day for it. But I remember the same point being made about Kelleher last year, that he wasn't playing any pressure games. I didn't agree with that, and the same holds for Idah playing SPL.

To be fair the fact that Kelleher would have started this game even if Alisson had been fit kind of tells its own story, well and all as he did today.

Was in bed with the mother of all hangovers, so didn't see the game. 2 decent goals, but one swallow (game) doesn't make a summer.

What about the other two, and the assist, he's gotten in the five games he's played for Celtic?
