And his career has been interrupted by injuries and infrequent selection.

I'm not super-bullish on the guy's long term level but he has a great chance to develop his game with regular football.

You did - in the part of your post I quoted. "You'd swear reading some lads on here that he might as well retire"

If it's only weldoninho then that's fine. But that was just one over-the-top post (based around a definite kernel of truth), which isn't what your post suggested

Ok see snapshots recent posts for further clarification. Jesus dude, you might also just look at the thread and see for yourself what I'm talking about instead of pedantically asking for every post specifically pointed out

Injuries have been a big problem for him, always seem to happen at bad times too.

Sorry for all the deletes. Having some issue on my phone:

From what I can see, he only started 39 games for Norwich. Not entirely sure the 166 figure is correct… 39 career starts in all competitions across 5 seasons isn’t ever enough to build proper momentum

Update Snapshot: 166 (168) is the number of games he played for Norwich including reserves, fa youth cup and u18s.

115 appearances in total, 39 starts across 5 seasons

Not pedantry at all. Myself and third policeman had both commented that he hadn't necessarily played well for all that he scored two penalties, and you posted straight after with the below post, which suggests you think any sort of criticism is problematic ("yes he missed some chances, strikers do that sometimes" - a key and consistent criticism of Idah though), and that multiple posters are at it.

If you're clarifying that you were only giving out about one specific post from one poster, then that's fine. But that's not how your original post came across.

And yes he missed some chances, strikers do that sometimes, but overall his movements and positioning were quite good... and showed massive balls to slot home winning pen.

If fit ~ He'd want to be knocking goals from play, in Scotland playing for Celtic ~ You'd be expected to be knocking goals in, in the Championship if you were playing for a team that has so many advantages against the others ( bar Rangers in Scotland )

This six months ( if he stays fit ) could certainly tell us a lot about his potential level.

This sums up my views. There have been plenty tall and quick strikers with good touches that struggle for goals in their early 20's and turn into really good centre forwards. Drogba and Giroud are the archetypal ones. I think Idah is worth persisting with.

He's also shown at a few junctures that he is capable of scoring good goals and his scoring frequency is scaling.

    I'm all here for it.

How you interpreted it is your own issue. I've been very critical myself of him at times, but I also see a lot of potential in him and I'm happy to see him get a change of scenery to see how it goes and hope it kickstarts him a bit. He's shown flashes of being a good player in the past but he's also very frustrating.

I doubt he'll ever get to the levels of Giroud and Drogba, but I've said before he could be like Ollie Watkins or Callum Wilson. Both lads had stints in lower divisions than Idah and developed late. They'd be good career target for Troy Parrott too

In truth, you'd have fancied him to score more if he was in the Hibs team last night. Celtic had very little, if any, advantage over Hibs.

On the whole, i would think it is a "good thing" that Idah scored two goals on his first start for Celtic, including a last minute winner. Looks like penalties don't appear to count as goals for some poeple though. Hopefully he can build on his positive start.

Ah in fairness, that's another strawman post - challenging an argument no-one has made.

Yes, there's a point that it's good he's already off the mark, even if from the spot.

But Stutts, liamoo and Crafty have all outlined chances from play he missed which unfortunately ties in with the general impression we have of him of a forward whose finishing badly lets him down.

    Those views aren't mutually exclusive.

There was a headed chance as well FWIR, might have been after all those other one you mention.

At present he's in the carthorse category. A similar role and build striker for Celtic, Vennegoor of Hesselink ,would have put away those chances. Though the penalties were pure class especially the last one and that counts.

Any guesses on who the previous Irish player to score two penalties in the same Scottish Premiership was before Stokes?

Couldn't think of any other Irish player who scored semi regularly around then!
