Rare to see an Irish player go down this route, they're usually a fairly loyal bunch, often to their detriment. Will be interesting to see how it plays out, I suspect it will end up with Idah getting the move he wants.
Fair, yep.

I never get this argument, as if clubs are paragons of virtue, and the nasty players are out to screw them. If someone is playing garbage and on a 5 year contract, the club would be scrambling to get rid of him, have him training with the kids etc to force them out, but when a player does it, it's terrible.
Comes on after 61mins away to Oxford and they are down 2-0.
I see Jonathan Rowe "requested" not too be involved for Norwich today. Strange to see two forwards throwing little strops in a short time - and they've also lost Sara this season, one of their best attacking options last year.
Starting with defeat against a side than hasn't been at this level since 1999 isn't great either. Only one game of course, but could be a long season for Norwich.
Fee agreed with Celtic. £8.5m, potentially rising to £9.5m.
So Celtic waited this long to sign Idah because Norwich were overvaluing him and have still potentially spent £9.5M with a 15% sell on clause.
Obviously Norwich wanted considerably more than what they got
It's ironic that Celtic could probably have gotten Idah for less than £5m instead of the loan deal, before everybody could see what he could do for Celtic under Rodgers. The guy adapted so fast to what was demanded of him.
Delighted Celtic have got him. They got 2 or 3 million for Lawal who's only ever played one game for them so 8.5 for Idah is not unreasonable.
Its really not that complicated!!!
Would have him as the Celtic's second highest transfer fee according to wiki (based on the initial fee). Norwich have done well to get extra money out of Celtic, a very typical bunch of Scots.
Good to have it finalised anyway.
They had 80 million cash balance in their last set of accounts, add at least another 20 million from this year's season tickets, they are guaranteed a minimum of 40 million for this year's new champions league structure and will probably sell Matt Oreilly for close to 30 million. So that's about a pot of 170 million and they still took most of the summer haggling for a player that is a priority for Rodgers.
I guess they didn't feel the need to rush as long as he was on board by Champions League, being there last year means he won't need the same time to settle that usual new signings would.
I think on balance it's a good move for Adam, I hope he has a season where he's fit and scores some goals, and lets see where that takes him.
Is it really that surprising? Only two players have transferred for more money to a Scottish club, ever - Odsonne Edouard to Celtic for £9m in 2018, and Tore Andre Flo to Rangers for £12m in 2000. Despite regular European competition, and selling at least eight players for more than £10million in the last ten years, including two for more than £20m - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footba..._fees_received - it's more money than Celtic have spent on all but one player in their history, or three if you adjust for inflation, as mentioned elsewhere.
