I have no allegiance to Liverpool but would say that they probably the best in england for atmosphere as the other english CL clubs seem to have virtually no noise given size of crowds. Would rarely see flags or banners at Manchester, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Arsenal have the samllest crowd of the CL clubs in England with only 32,000 home fans for the games at Highbury. When we played at Wembley with 70,000 home fans we were as loud as anyone and I would expect that to be the same when we move to Emirates Stadium. I was at the Barcelona game at Wembley and the banners, card display & noise was deafening for a group game that we lost.Originally Posted by pete
I've always felt the athmosphere was good at Old Trafford for big european games and stand by that. As for Chelski, even the regular home fans were singing to their new glory hunting fans in recent CL games - 'where where you when we woz sh1t?'
Loudest fans in the premiership - two stand out for sheer noise, Portsmouth and Birmingham. Pompey were 5-1 down against Us and 'never' stopped singing. Saw the Birmingham away support at Highbury who were brilliant and am looking forwarding to hearing the home support in two weeks.
Best fans in the world? How old are we now, 12? Who cares, really? It's not like your going to jump ship to the best fan's club...............or are there a few 'new' chelski fans in here who have realised their sudden decline!![]()
Can't believe nobody's said 'Ireland' yet!!!!!!!!!!![]()

Macy, like Tiktok, i wouldn't call myself a Celtic 'fan' either. I'm no mad follower of any club. I admire the noise and atmosphere Celtic and Liverpool fans make, I hope on June 4th that Lansdowne will be jumping.![]()
Because they're not even close. I'm an Ireland fan, but in all fairness, we're the greatest set of fair weather fans I've ever seen, on the big occasions we'll get colour and noise but the rest of the time forget it.Originally Posted by KarlosIRL
I'm told by absolutley everyone who went that the atmosphere and colour created by the Hajduk Split fans at home to Shels was the best they'd ever witnessed, absolutley incredible from start to finish apparently. Which when you consider Shels aren't exactly a big draw (despite that I'd like to think) and that they were a goal behind for a good while is very impressive, but I didn't go myself so don't really know.
The St Pauli fans are the best shout of the thread though.
Dublin City.........ha!!!!!![]()

Arsenal have the most boring supporters in the English Prem. Champions League nights Highbury are complete bore. Can't blame the crowd size for the noise levels when there was over 30,000. Portsmouth are probably the best and they're not more than 25,000 but never fail to be heard. Chelsea and Man U are decent but not a patch on some of the continental teams like Lyon, Bayern Munich or Portugeese club sides.Originally Posted by KarlosIRL
First hand experience, it has to be Derry. Unreal. Cork fans, I've never been to Turners Cross, but their away fans are great, usually outsing the home fans. At Pats Shels a few weeks back the Pats crowd deafening and made for an enjoyable if slightly hostile atmosphere. They were still singing at 3-1 down, so they deserve a mention.
Galatasary anyone? Barcelona also have special fans.
Would agree with Eanna about the fans who come out in driving rain week in week out to see their team get beat but come back for more in hope rather than anything else
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
Barcelona mentioned twice in this thread??????
What a load of ******. Hardly have an away support anddespite having 100k in the home stadium only come up with a handful of Barca, Barca chants........please..........
Celtic in Stuttgart and Seville from the Uefa cup run.
Liverpool in europe have been good.
Get on to some of those TIFO sites, club sides from Croatia and the like have some fabulous displays, flags, banner, bog roll and flares can look awesome.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?
"No, I drink to help me mind my own business....can I get you one? (c) Ronnie Drew
Shamrock Rovers anyone?Originally Posted by Dublin12
As for Irish fans haha, not likely. The only reason we get soo much praise is because we come out in big numbers every 4 YEARS for the world cup and the odd big game in between(france). Why do we come out in such big numbers.Because during the year when football fans from most countries in the world are breaking the bank traveling up and down their country supporting their team,Irish fans are sitting on their armchairs at home or in the pub watching "their team" while laughing off even the idea of supporting a local team

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.
Newcastle fans win this hands down.
I thought it was pathetic the way people were raving about how great the Liverpool fans were the other night yet neglegted to mention the PSV fans last night who were so many times better than the Liverpool fans.
Champions!
i didn't see the PSV gameOriginally Posted by Colm

Well, and this is just in terms of noise, atmosphere etc, and not if the fans are nice / well behaved etc I'd say the following stand out:-
Red Star Belgrade
Marseille
Boca Juniors
Napoli
Feyenoord (tho they are very poorly behaved)
If you take into account behaviour then its more difficult.
Except mancheter united fans.....coz that would just be hillarios!!!!Originally Posted by Macy

Yes I saw the Toon Army in all their glory, wrecking Barcelona town centre back in 2003. Then fighting themselves.Originally Posted by D2 Red

Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.
Would not have wished to fail to mention the PSV fans. I love the Phillips Stadium but watched the game on Network Two and just they seemed so distant from the atmosphere.lt was as if they were broadcasting from studio.Originally Posted by Colm
Thought PSV were fantastic. So were the fans. A wonderful stadium for atmosphere. Close to the action.
