    Euro 2008 bid hits bump

The joint Irish-Scottish bid to stage the European Championships in 2008 has been dealt a blow in a row over Stadium Ireland. The IRFU has cast some doubt on the bid by saying that Lansdowne Road will only be redeveloped if Stadium Ireland is built.

An IRFU statement said any plans to meet the all seated requirements of UEFA would significantly reduce the capacity of Lansdowne Road. The Progressive Democrats had proposed using Lansdowne Road and Croke Park as venues for the finals

Can't blame the IRFU really can you. Why would they want their capacity for their own internationals severly reduced?
