    Disgrace

Thuggish Dundalk supporters were guilty of racially abusing Bohemians players while stewards and Gardai stood idly by last night, it has been alleged by several witnesses.

A Drogheda fan at the game, along with a Dundalk fan and several Bohs fans, have claimed that Bohs' Avery John and Mark Rutherford were the subject of monkey chants during the two sides' 1-1 draw at Oriel Park.

The level of stewarding at the ground was believed to be totally inadequate. As is the norm at Oriel Park, supporters were allowed into the ground with alcohol, many of whom - armed with cans and bottles - congregated in the Shed.

This is outlawed at most grounds, but continues to go on in Dundalk and when a large number of Bohemians fans joined them in the Shed, a bit of banter preceded nasty crowd trouble.

Bottles and cans were hurled in the direction of the visiting supporters, and a fracas involving a number of fans ensued. Attempts were made by young home fans to burn a Bohs flag.

Gypsies supporters are certainly not exempt from the blame game, but stewarding and policing would seem to have been wholly inadequate on the night.

Worryingly, this is the third time some Dundalk supporters have been accused of racism and they should not be allowed smear the image of the great county Louth club.

this sh!t has to stop. Any clubs where this happens should be fined- that would make them act. Security has to be improved, as it's only a matter of time before something terrible happens.
