    Kilkenny Game

Kilkenny next up and there's no doubt that we can expect more of the same, a-la, Limerick, Monaghan and Athlone. So we know what to expect. What will be done about it?
To win games I'm told we need to get the ball into the opposition's goal, can we do that, we haven't been finding it too easy of late. So what's the plan. How are we going to break down the Cat's defence. With Pat Scully at the helm we can be sure the cats will be sound defencively. So who's going to be our starting eleven, what's going to be our game plan and most importantly will we adopt a Plan B should our origional plan fail.

As far as I know Conor O' Grady is out due to the red card in Athlone

    Here's my starting eleven and formation;

    Formation : 4 - 3 - 1 - 2

    John O' Hara
    Back Four;
Philip Galagher, Michael McNamara, Liam Burns, Kupono Low.
    Midfield
Steve Feeney, Ciaran Foley, Ryan O' Donnell
Sitting in front of the midfield trio in a roving role
    Steven O' Donnell
    Forwards
    Paul McTiernan, Rafael Cretaro

I really struggled to put that side together. We don't really have a whole lot to work with.

The quicker Sean brings in the SIX players from Birmingham the better

Yeah i think the 4-4-2 is too standard and predictable in this division. Every uses it or depending on the team 6-4-0 I'd like to see ur 4-3-1-2 in action, i think someone just off the front two is the way to go. I'd play Ryan at right back. Phillip is ok but he was lost a couple of times in athlone. Using your formation my team would be. If the forwards keep firing blanks then i'd promote John bellew and maybe john maughan to the first team. they've been banging in the goals and deserve a chance if nobody else is going to score

    John O' Hara
Back Four; - picks itself really
Ryan O'Donnell, Michael McNamara, Liam Burns, Kupono Low.
    Midfield
    Tosh, Curran, McCartney
Sitting in front of the midfield trio in a roving role
    Kudozovic
    Forwards
    O'Donnell, Cretaro

Looks good on paper Gary ... but

I don't think we'd get away with TWELVE players in our team

ur right but i doubt the ref would notice. thats how good they are
it's changed now. i copied urs any forgot to delete foley my midfield might be a bit light but i think curran deserves the chance in O'Grady's absence. I think that at least 4 players are needed. bring a few in from birmingham ? indeed sure what else will heskey and co be doing all summer

failure to win on saturday will see is move down into mid table possibly

    ---------------------John O' Hara

--Ryan O' Donnell, Michael McNamara, Liam Burns, Kupono Low.

--Steve Feeney, Faz Kuduzovic, Conor O' Grady, Raffael Cretaro

    -------------Paul McTiernan, Steven O' Donnell

btw, I know O' Grady is out but I'm just doing my starting eleven on an ordinary game.

I think the problem is that Sean's signings ( with the exception of Burns and O'Hara ) are struggling.

Faz is a class player as he showed against Galway. That win had so much much to do with the way he and O'Grady ran midfield.

He was excellent, but seems to be struggling since then. The Alvarez situation is strange. He took his goals really well that night and is a good finisher, but his confidence appears to be low.

    Connor wants win

Sean Connor wants to stay in the top three. It was his objective before the start of the season and he’s hoping for a winning performance at home to Kilkenny tomorrow night

Connor was disappointed with the draw in Athlone last week. “I thought we could have won. I think we were the better side and we created loads of chances, particularly in the first half.

“I’m happy with the way we’re playing. We very hard to break down and we’re not conceding. But we have to be more clinical and ruthless in front of goal and it’s something we’re working hard at,” he reflected.

Looking forward to the Kilkenny game, although they’re unbeaten, they have been unlucky not to take more points in this opening phase of games and surely they will come to Sligo hoping to take something from the Showgrounds.

“Kilkenny are looking for their first win. As I’ve said before, any team can beat any other team in this division. But if we perform and play to our tempo, then we can win. It’s important for us to keep in the top three. It was my target before the season began and I know we’re capable of staying there for the long term. So a win tomorrow night is important,” the Rovers boss concluded.

Kick off tomorrow night (Sat 7 May) in The Showgrounds is 7.30 pm.

Ah come on, he is terrible. He is a striker who cant score and a tall player who cant win a header. Remind you of a certain Darren Jack?

Dublin City and Cobh won last night so we have to win tonight or else there is a danger even at this early stage of them pulling away a bit.

Anyway we should be expecting to beat a team at the bottom of the table.

    Hope so !

How'd the game end up lads? Have a few quid on Rovers but teletext is saying that its 0-0 but Flannery scored on 67 min! I'm presuming he did?

1- 0 to rovers. not a great performance but three points none the less. Scully nearly smashed our post with a header. Flannery took goal very well, when the ball dropped to him

Thought it was very sporting of Kilkenny to attack from their throw in after we put the ball out when Burns went down injured late in the game, was nice of them.
