In 1990 when we were relegated in the end of season table we finished last
P 33 W 6 D 5 L 21 and as there were only 2 points for a win we had 17 points!
What part of "we always start slowly" is causing confusion?
Surely you, of all people, should be aware of that?
Also, those 8 games played so far include a disproportionate number of games against last year's top 4. A fairer comparison would be after 11 games.
Rather that than last year, when we were playing badly and getting nothing for it. It'll click.Originally Posted by CollegeTillIDie

What's the point there?

Most of our strikers couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo and you wonder why I am gloomy about our prospects ?
It's dangerously close to 4 times our current record !Originally Posted by pineapple stu
The only saving grace is that there are three teams yet to record a victory in the League so far!
Funny that - the league table shows that only four teams have scored more than us in the league this season, and two of our forwards - Paul Byrne and Conor Sammon - are joint fifth-top scorers in the league. Not to mention the two goals they shared in the League Cup as well.Originally Posted by CollegeTillIDie

Our problems last year were because our midfield and defence weren't contributing goals - already we have Doyler, Cawley and Shortall off the mark as well.
We still have less than a point a game which is how we finished last year..
How exactly have we improved? Granted we are conceding fractionally fewer goals and possibly scoring fractionally more goals. But the outcome is the same pathetic points tally!
Let's re-visit this thread after we've played all teams once, not after we've played a disproportionate number of last season's top four.
Oh God, why couldn't there be an ignore thread button?
You can't spell failure without FAI
Yeah seriously. It's really annoying when the UCD section appears as having new posts in it when it's only this bloody thread.
Check out my new sports blog http://www.action81.com
Well you're as guilty of adding to the thread as anyone else![]()
This post is the 154th in this thread. You've posted 105 of them Declan. We bloody well aren't.

I actually think this is an interesting thread. If only we could get a LSC and First Division Shield record...?
Only noticed this now - didn't we compete in the 1922 FAI Cup as well? First Round defeat to Shamrock Rovers, I think?Originally Posted by CollegeTillIDie
Yes but we were both Non-League so it was so far in the Preliminaries as not to be consistent with the latter stages which the first qualification in the 1930's was when we drew a League side. By the way Rovers beat us 6-2 according to The Hoops by Robert Goggins and Paul Doolan ( no not that one!)Originally Posted by pineapple stu
So it wasn't in the First Round proper then? Was it akin to the First Round nowadays, or more like the First Qualifying Round in the FA Cup?
