Hmmmm, missed that one somehow. We're going out the day before and coming home the Monday morning at 10.00 am. Prices of hotels in Cardiff are a rip off by the way. How much time have you got between the end of the game and your flight home ?

Flight home is at 8.30 - so even if it goes to extra-time we should be ok. My big worry is making sure the match tickets arrive in time.

I'm not sure what the story with Barrett is. The Owls have another young striker in Talbot and Barrett has disappeared from the scene. He must be injured. He would be better than that stick Quinn who is up front at the moment.

I'm applying in the post - I'm eligible from Sunday to get tickets as I have a stub from the Brentford game.

Think we'll try and pick up a ticket on the day. Wednesday have already sold their allocation of 30k so I'm not sure how many will be left over for postal applications.

Prediction: glad it's Hartlepool instead of Tranmere. I'll go for 1-0 to the Owls over the Monkeys in a dour struggle but then I wouldn't be surprised if they lost either, probably to a last minute goal. Memories of the 1993 Cup Final - Andy Linigan. Not sure he ever scored another goal for Arsenal. Bit like Morrow in the League Cup Final the same year also against Wednesday.

envious. I am going and have some feelers out but if I don't get them, I'll try and buy some in Cardiff.

If you're stuck, you can buy then on the net, albeit only for the Harlepool end.

    Owlsfan -

Was just on the Millennium Stadium site to see where I'm sitting and say this under the League One playoff section

    The Millennium Stadium is
    not selling tickets for this
    match. Supporters of both
    clubs appearing in the final
    should contact their own
    club ticketing services for
    further information about
    obtaining tickets

Just thought I'd make you aware of that.

    If you're stuck http://www.seetickets.com/see/category_sport.asp

is the site where you can buy H'pool tockets.

I have one or two fingers in various pies. I ordered a ticket for my brother on that Hartlepool site earlier today (I had heard of it thanks). Believe it or not he supports both teams - what are the chances of that ?? Didn't for myself as I don't want to sit with opposing supporters: no fun in that. Did it at Old Trafford once.

Apparently Wednesday are bringing more supporters to a play-off than any previous Club. Not that surprising even though the likes of Sunderland have been there before as well.

Fingers crossed - I won't be relaxed even if the Owls are 3-0 up at half time judging by last night's match

    Best of luck Mr Owl!!!!

I must admit I have selfish reasons for supporting Sheffield Wednesday in this match! As a Nottingham Forest supporter I just hope we're the only 'big fish' in League One next year!!!

As well as that you're a massive club with amazing support and for nicer than that other lot from Sheffield!!!!!

I thought that myself when I saw Forest coming down. Not sure I want another large club in the same division so Wednesday are doing their best to scurry out.

A grudging well done, although without MacLean's theatrics and the ref's myopia, Hartlepool would have had the win that their performance today merited. I can't help thinking that you'll go straight back down (still £37 million in debt and no transfer kitty for Sturrock), but for today at least, enjoy the feeling and the promotion that your exceptional fans (if not your inconsistent team) deserve.

Oh, and Sturrock vs Southampton? Bring it on...

Well PLastic paddy i dont know how you can say Hartlepool deserved it because in the first half we played them off the pitch and the second half they done it too us.It evened out.And the penalty was slightly dubious but with the luck weve had over the years i dont give a flying ****.Come on the Wedneday!

Now, you're hardly being objective about this, are you? I take your point about the luck though. Today, and for once, it's with you.

Congratulations again on that promotion. Enjoy your night.

Just back from Cardiff. The proverbial roller coaster. Up, down, down and out, back again, ahead and victory. One of the best football matches experience (not quality) wise I've been at. I was really glad for the Wednesday fans - you could sense the doom and foreboding and here we go again feeling as Hartlepool got back into the game (as ever it is an Irishman who scored against the Owls) but thank heavens for Whelan in his white boots. In the Roy Keane mould of a box to box player and a fine passer of the ball. Still doesn't have the presence or strenth of Keane but even if he gets 75% of the way there, he'll be excellent.

They won't go down again - there is a fair bit of dross in the Championship (Crewe, Plymouth etc - no offence to them) and I would expect them to be closer to the top than bottom next season and I am not normally optimistic.

All will count for very little though if we don't get the 3 points this w/e against Israel but for the moment it's:

    "Who needs Mourin-hooo
    when we've got Paul Sturrockoo"

Just a quick question. Did Whelan get MOTM in all 3 playoff matches?
