Disappointing to lose two points at the death but thankfully the Shams were toothlesss in the battle of the Rovers.

Here on a technicality.
It'll take some beating for anyone to perform worse than Harps did tonight for the rest of the season.

Derry Dundalk'd Dundalk tonight.
Cracking match.
Derry won the 1st half,Dundalk the 2nd.A draw prob the right result but thought we shaded it.
Derry fans started out booing every ex player of theirs that play for us now......that lasted all of 5 minutes
Always a good visit to the randy brandy, totally enjoyed all the pre-match banter and beers.
Enjoyed it too much **bed for me**
Waterford were poor last night. Had lots of the ball but didn't create much. Badly missing a decent striker now that Drinan is gone. 3 defeats in a row now since the summer break. Great goal from Clifford for St Pats.
How did Cummins do Shams?
He was ok. Nothing special. Hit the bar in the first half and McGinty stopped him twice in second half in one on ones. Thought the first save of those was superb. Actually thought he should have had a penalty in the first half when Banks pushed him as he was trying to get his head onto the ball. Also elbowed Mahon and had a late tackle on him but of course Neil Doyle saw nothing out of the ordinary with those.
Shams absolutely owned the ball and I don’t really know what we were doing with Romeo on the wing and Coughlan up front as Romeo had no interest in tracking O’Brien. Other way around would have made much more sense. Having said that once we got somewhat of a handle on Jack Byrne in the second half they kinda ran out of ideas apart from get it down the wing and cross it but we would have no complaints with another 3-0 defeat there as I don’t know how we made it to half time level.
First time there since the new stand opened. Great ground.
Fair assessment. I thought Romeo was a lazy sod tbh, no interest in stopping O'Brien crossing the ball. Sligo weren't too bad to be fair first fifteen minutes but then reverted back to the everyone behind the ball tactics employed earlier in the season. Thought both your centre halves had good games. As for us, can't blame anyone else when you've so much of the ball/crosses and don't score.
I thought the last trip to ucd was bad, that was nightmarish altogether!
Quite the ending at the Brandywell last night.

He’s a pain in the hole.
Essentially what we were feeling until we got that equaliser.
As said, a draw was probably a fair result. Impressed again with Dundalk, there was some relentless pressure in the second half. Hoban scoring on the stroke of 90 minutes, you just think 'typical Dundalk', so scoring at the death almost made it feel like a win.
It's noticeable how we seem to making a habit of getting draws in matches that we would have lost last season. We've lost five this season, compared to 20 last. Three draws last season, nine already this season.
We've a run of some 'easier' games coming up now, so hopefully we can close the gap to Bohs, and pull away from Pats. I still think we'll finish fourth or fifth though.
It still boggles that Devine was so quickly cut loose first time when free scoring Derry had a bit of a slide in the last round of games. I've said it before but it went from one of the most entertaining Derry sides to watch in Oriel to the very worst ever in 6 months. How he has so quickly turned Derry in to European contenders, and playing the way Shiels would have wanted, says plenty about his ability to build a team, lift confidence and get them playing. And none of the side show Kenny Sheils rants on dugout positioning et al. I say this fully aware that Sheil's Derry side needed serious work after Roddy got the job he always wanted and the also had a lot to deal with tragedy when they were building pretty well.
