That is true. John Linahane. Possibly the worst ref in the league. Even though he had linesmen they failed to inform him of the booking i.e. Aidan O Regan(Eircom league Referee)

I did not intend my question to be used to slate referees, surely there must be some good ones

    Not heard anything

He's certainly good enough to play for them, but I dont think he has the time generally to commit to such a standard. I might be wrong about that, but I'd love to see him have a go, great player on his day.

There are some very good referees out there but once the subject of referees is brought up the bad ones are always going to get slated,in my last post it was just a warning that some of them are members on this forum so to be careful what you say about them.As the old saying goes who'd be a ref

Rockmount beat LOI team Limerick 37 yesterday in the Munster Senior cup, in fact we got a walkover cos they couldn't field a team. Cork City next and maybe Alan O Connor will get to see what it's like to mark Willie Byrne after all...unconfirmed, but looking likely

Saw that in the Examiner on Saturday, very disappointing.
Ye could have played the replay after all.
Lets hope Alans stint at City is more successful than Willies

Yeah, replay next week. Bring it on.

If the lad does half as well in the LOI as Willie B did for a long time he'll be happy and successful..

    Refs!

The standard of ref is as good as the players in the MSL. Don't expect Premiership or Champions League standard refs to turn up on a sunday morning. The players are average/good and the refs are the same.

Players and refs will make mistakes in every game. Stop whining... just get on with it and hope that any poor decisions even out over a season! Naming refs who make a mistake is poor form.. nobody slags off a player who makes an error. For example the guy who abused the ref in Blarney recently and caused the game to be abandoned was not named on this thread.

first half belonged to avondale but after the break it was one way traffic from the wanderers who should have come away with the 3 points but it wasn't to be.

Avondale make the trip to Rockmount this Sun morning I think. Is anyone else having a prob getting onto the MSL site? Anytime I go to it now it closes all my browser pages.

Prob me, but would be interested if it's not me.

Quote copied from Razor on the Intermediate thread just cos today was Dale's payback and payback in spades it was. My God Finbar won't be getting just a drink of Caulfield and O Connel tonight, he'll be getting the full blow job and anything else he wants after what went on this morning at Rockmount park.

Finished 1-1, Mount one up and cruising when O Connell falls over in the vacinity of two Mount defenders. Spotter given, unbelievable stuff, the worst decision I've ever seen in my life, bar none.

I better stop now before I get abusive! Shocking.
