Jaysus were not getting into this again are we?? It's not GAA, players can come and go as they please. No one had a gun to their head. Midleton have 'Poached' players from other clubs too. I agree that it's a silly rule but there's lots of silly rules in football
No but they brought in some new rules this year regarding cup competitions as they felt too many clubs were playing players who were not registered Junior. Lots of clubs were playing non junior players in these comps. We Will all know these rules next year, but knowing the MSL they might decide to scrap it after one year. Keeps them busy I suppose :-)
4-2 Carrigaline v castleview apparently. Squeaky bum time for sure on sat now.
The above is all opinion and based on personal experience. Unless stated otherwise it is not a dig at anybody, well probably none of you lot.
Castleview 2-4 Carraigaline
Strange match. We went 2 nil down, pulled 1 back before half time, scored a penalty in the first few minutes of the second half. Carraigaline went up the other end and score straight away and got another soon after!
Mad indeed. Six points for a win apparently now as well. They have jumped from 32 to 38 on the table. Mistake surely.

Big time but it's not over yet
Just looking at the MSL site, have Carraigline been awarded the points that were taken from them?
The John Hayes Trophy was started in the 2008/09 season. The rule stating that only players registered in the Junior First Division can play in this competition has been there from the start of the competition in 2008. It has been enforced every year. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse and the only people to blame for getting thrown out of the competition are Midleton themselves.
We'll win the cup instead ;-)

Big win tonight for Carrigaline. Taught were full value for the win. 2-0 up inside first 20 minutes. two very well taken goals.Sat back for next 25 and castleview got very much back into the game, seemed to play long ball tactics for most of the game. but lovely floated ball to back post for well finished effort 5 minutes befor ht to make it 2-1. first 5 minutes of the second half were crazy to say the least. Very contentious penalty for castleview, looked short of the penalty area but given anyway. 2-2. looked like castleview would turn it around but staright from tip off michael kiernan scored an absolute belter. rounded 2 players and cracked in a beauty from 35 yards!! Really seemed to deflate castleview. 4-2 soon after keeper failed to deal with long ball in, swept in at back post. Castleview kept throwin balls up but carrig should have put another 1 or 2 past them, missing a penalty and a goal not given that seemed to cross the line!! Great win and sets up a cracking game against ucc on sunday. bandon and fermoy and tramore/castleview also playing. Great day of first division football ahead!
Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.
I presume by your militant response Shinguard that your a blazer(MSl representative)or you suffer from severe tunnel vision your not looking at the overall picture here the rules were put in place to stop teams fielding senior players Midleton went the opposite and fielded players who werent getting regular football week in week out ie the subs and fielded a few 17 year olds to blood them for next season now if that comes under the guise of cheating that is just sad and common sense should prevail. In essence there being punished for fielding a weakened side yes there are rules but rules are usually broken to benefit a team not to weaken it.
To be honest I thinks it's a case for judge judy......because you would want to be a judge to understand all there stupid rules!cheating is to me trying to be sneaky to gain an unfair advantage....I think midleton do not come under this bracket....fielding weaker players in a competition to blood new players for next year to keep the flow of local talent in the adult set up which is extremely hard being a country club.i understand there is a rule there, but why can't we see these rules on a website, why have a fai rule book up,and not there own Msl one......too many clubs being thrown out which hints at a system isn't working....get yer head out of the clouds Msl and start using common sense I think!!!
