    Celtic fans - frustration

As someone who is not a Celtic fan, I found this piece from today's Indo interesting:

The tension of the title run-in is also getting to the Celtic fans. They took their frustration out on the players, particularly Irish international Aiden McGeady when losing the ball, but O'Neill has called for more support from the crowd...........O'Neill said: "I know young Aiden McGeady lost the ball a few times but that's when we should get a bit more encouragement. I just felt that we could do with a bit more help from the support but they turn up in their droves and if you pay your money then your can say what you want."

Why did fans vent their spleen on young McGeady? Was he/is he that bad? Is he that much worse than the others? Is it cause he chose Ireland rather than Scotland? Hopefully he never has a bad game for Ireland or the lad is on for some dog's abuse!

O'Neill seems to accept that while it would be nice to get a bit more encouragement, supporters, cos they pay their money, can say what they want. This obviously explains why the anti-Rangers booing at Ireland games is considered OK by Celtic fans. Hopefully O'Neill does not literally mean fans can say what they want. There must be some limits.

Finally is the honeymoon over between O'Neill and the Celtic fans? Very strange to hear him having to call for more support from the same fans who he has always extolled as the best in the world.

To be honest some fans at CP, especially the fans that sit in the main stand are a disgrace. I bad pass, missed tackle and they moan at you, its a disgrace when we should be supporting the team.

What went wrong against Hibs has happened ALL year and Martin O'Neill is at fault. We have Joos playing left back, he is dead slow and the amount of times we've seen him ripped apart in the left hand side is frighting. Joos is also right footed. We have a decent wee left back with a good left foot in Laursen but O'Neill always favours Joos. Its amazing how well and balanced the defence looks when Laursen is playing, how can MON not see this?

Our midfield is a joke too. We have 1 of the best attacking midfields in Scotland in Petrov yet Martin O'Neill countiunes to play him wide right, Petrov played center against rangers last week, we won, he scored, he was best player on the field. Against Hibs, Petrov on right which offers us nothing.

Thompson, one of the best left sided wingers we have has played all year in the center, WHY? we need Thommo on the wing giving great delivery to the big men Sutton and Hartson. Thommo is wasted in the middle yet Martin O'Neill countiunes to play him there.

McGeady, although a great wee talent he is still young and learning but Martin O'Neill keeps him on the left. McGeady is right footed and although yes he's played well this year his best postison I feel is in behind the 2 strikers were he could use his skill to unlock a tight defence.

Surely Martin O'Neill could know you could play McGeady on the right instead of Petrov. Petrov in the center instead of Thommo and Thommo on the left instead of McGeady.

I'am amazed that people think Martin O'Neill will end up at Man Utd. If Utd are the club they think they are, then they need a far better manager than Martin O'Neill.

But I still think we'll win the league

Where is our Hibernians fan anyway ?? He didn't comment on their shock victory, maybe he's still recovering from a long night of celebrating ??

From a club who labels itself as Irish and not British (sure, they're Irish ) that cannot be the reason, not ?

I dont think the club labels itself Irish. It is Celtic's Irish fans and fans of Irish origin who like to think it is an Irish club.

Oh sweet lord what a weekend Still recovering

For the 2nd time this season Hibs outclassed Celtic at Parkhead, but this time we got result we deserved. It's taken 13 years, and man was it SWEET

Bring on 3rd place and the UEFA Cup. Not that the Jambo's would know anything about that

I listened to the match on the radio and McGeady didn't get any abuse. The fans were getting frustrated after about the 50th home game in a row going behind. If a player made a bad choice the fans would moan and when 60,000 moan at the same time its a bit obvious. Unfortunately McGeady kept losing the ball but it was certainly nothing personal.

I dont think the club labels itself Irish. It is Celtic's Irish fans and fans of Irish origin who like to think it is an Irish club.
Well I personally have never heard a real Celtic fan ever sayin Celtic were an Irish club.

Can somebody post the remaining fixtures for both Celtic & Rangers please?

I have to say, and admittedly it's easy to say this in hindsight, but I didn't feel the league was over after Celtic beat Rangers. Celtic's home form in the last few weeks has been poor, Bellamy is out for the rest of the season, and each of Hearts, Hibs & Aberdeen has given the OF a run for their money this year.

    Thanks.

Celtic will have to play very well to get 9 points from those games. It's also a real test for O'Neill.

What's the story with Sutton's injury?

Rangers have it just as hard if not harder than Celtic.. they have to play Hibs away..
So while Celtic have a few though matches comin up they still have the advantage over Rangers Hopefully they don't blow it

If you boys beat Aberdeen next weekend Hibs are pretty much secure of 3rd place and UEFA cup, so Ranger's might not have it as difficult when they come to Easter Road.

Sutton is struggling with a groin strain but i was reading that hes 50/50 for sunday. but bellamy is definitely out.

huge 3 games left for each team. celtic have to win all 3, a draw would mean rangers wiinning it again on goal difference as it stands

celtic should win this title, once they keep their heads. biggest banana skin is hearts away especially with the recent history between the clubs.

Not saying that, but if we confirm 3rd in league before then, Rangers will have a LOT more at stake in the match

Rangers will have the same at stake, but if Hibs have nothing to loose, besides their last game of the season and the fact that they can say they've beat the top 2 teams in the league if they do win...

Can't see them lying down or going any easier because they have got 3rd Guananteed...
There still will be a lot to play for!!

Thought you were a Hibs fan

Well you are implying that Hibs will be easier for rangers to beat if they have secured 3rd...
I was just saying that I don't think they will and they will still have a good bit to fight for

Did Celtic not claim the same thing before about Dunfirmline letting Rangers hammer them?? Now the same thing is being said again about Hibs if we lose to Rangers
