The media have always been very protective of him. Just shows they are not to be trusted.

Without mentioning the legal stuff it is brilliant news to see this guy being thrown out of the country , beggars belief how it took so long.
Well done to the immigration dept !

I thought the "legal stuff" was a matter of record, but now I can't find anything from an actual news source, even the links on his Wiki page are dead.

I have been told that some (not all) of the legal proceedings were misreported, hence he was able to get the reports removed. And hence some caution is advisable here.

He was just under the "minor" age and shouldn't have been named.
Same as the current scenario in the Boy A and Boy B in the recent case in Dublin.

Under Section 258 of the Children Act 2001 an offence committed by a child under the age of 18, for which they have been found guilty, can be automatically expunged from the record as if never committed, once certain conditions are met. The conditions are as follows:

•The offence was committed before the child reached the age of 18 years
•The offence is not one required to be tried by the Central Criminal Court (such as murder or rape)
•At least 3 years have elapsed since the finding of guilt and
•The child has not been dealt with for another offence in that 3-year period

If these conditions are met, they are no longer regarded under Irish law as having committed an offence.

It appears to be the law. I pity the victims in all of this. The law seems to ignore them.

Wasn't the offence covered by point 2 though?

So can't be expunged in this case

He wasn't convicted of rape, but sexual assault.

To be more precise the conviction was for defilement

Let's just hope that in years to come no one comes forward and it turns out that bohemians and waterford facilitated any further defilement of children by providing that creature with a living.

I mean, obviously for bohs and waterford a couple of goals extra a year is far more important than child protection.

But I don't think society as a whole would share this moral outlook and frankly the league gets enough bad publicity.

Harsh on Bohs, they are 'The People's Club' of course, unless those people are women and children.
    Here on a technicality.

There is no defending playing this guy, ....please don't try , being a supporter doesn't mean you have to blindly support everything your team does.

I'm not defending playing him (wasn't my choice) but the clowns coming on here pontificating are the very same ones that ignore issues at their own clubs. I totally despise what he did but who decides when/if he should play football ?And what other crimes should result in a lifetime (or whatever) ban ? it was a criminal issue and was dealt with, appropriately, by the Courts.

I suppose that would be the clubs that employ him? And as we're so often told Bohs are the only real fan owned club in the country so the Bohs fans were directly the ones condoning him

I'm sure the victims mom and dad not to mention the victim felt it was "appropriately dealt with by the courts".

    This is nonsense.

How would you have any idea how any of them felt about the prosecution?

Honestly didn't think my opinion of you could go any lower, why don't you ask your mother or sisters how they would feel about it.

I'm completely unconcerned about your opinion of me and your question is totally irrelevant to what I posted.

You cited the feelings of the victim and her parents in what appears to be some sort of point-scoring response. You have a hard neck when you clearly are guessing at how they feel.

Good riddance to Akinade if he has actually left Ireland
