    WYW v Limerick

WYW displayed improved form as they clinically disposed of a decent Limerick side in Ferrycarrig this evening. Wexford started with Sophie, Nicola, Lauren Dwyer, Lolly, Doireann, Lauren Kelly, Aoife, Kylie, Ciara, and with Aisling playing behind Rianna up front. Wexford looked the better side in the first half but took a long time to register on the scoreboard. In fact, Wexford’s Lauren Dwyer had to be very lively about midway through the first half to clear an effort by the impressive Sophie Liston of Limerick off the Wexford goal-line. Aisling Frawley then had a chance to lob Karen Connolly in the Limerick goal but it went a yard wide. Just as Limerick would have been thinking they could get to half-time with the score at 0-0, the home side altered the game dramatically with two late goals just before the blow. Firstly, Ciara Rossiter, who already looks to have regained much of her pre-injury form, was put through to face Connolly and finished neatly for 1-0 to Wexford. Right from the kick-off after that goal, Rianna Jarrett broke free down Wexford’s left, and her low cross was tucked first-time just inside the near post by Aisling Frawley and Wexford went ahead 2-0 and looking safe at the break.

The second half was dominated by Wexford as their passing improved as the second half progressed. Good Wexford passing enabled Rianna Jarrett to make it 3-0, Aisling Frawley to make it 4-0 and Rianna again to make it 5-0. A cracking header by Wexford skipper, Kylie Murphy, made it 6-0 and Aisling Frawley looped a shot over Limerick’s replacement keeper, Medbh Ryan, who had come on at half-time, for her hat-trick and a final score of 7-0 which was probably a bit harsh on Limerick. Subs for Wexford during the second half were Becky Cassin, Blessing Kingsley and Vanessa Ogbonna while Megan Kelleher got a late second yellow with minutes to go to leave Limerick with ten players at the end. Final score 7-0 to Wexford.
