Maybe those who post in the Celtic threads should read it and understand the difference between banter and childishness.
You see that works because 'Fans' of both clubs piost on it the Cletic threads begin with Fans posting about football and then anti-Celtic trollers and fans who think they are fan's because they are Irish and Catholic posting on it to cause an arguement and get the threads closed...
A crack down on trolling is what is called for IMO... Give it a go for a while, have a few people assigned to report trolling or discussion of political issues on these threads, their posts will be binned and they will be givin a warning which can lead to a suspension and or a ban!!

The fact that this thread sums up why the topic is going to be banned. Just as PO'B finds it hard to respond to Plastic Paddy jabs, other's get pulled in when posts appear like Boysingreen's one.

Better left banned imo - it's not like there's some kind of shortage of Celtic Forums that both the pro and anti Celtic sides can go to for their wars. Given the way the threads have tended to decend in here, a significant number would probably be happier where they can dish the abuse as they feel fit....
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.

There is enough of Celtic site's around as some have said, so If people wanted to post about Celtic they could go and post on them and yes this is a message board about Irish clubs and the Irish national team, but these posts have been on the World football section and the last thread people were posting about the match that had just took place until once again someone couldn't hold back on their hatred for the club and started the name calling, just like there has been threads were people were talking about the club and all of a sudden it has turned into a barrage of rubbish about something that happened eighteen years ago.

There has been comparisions made with the thread about Liverpool and Everton and about how that has not taken off into daft arguments, the fact about that thread is that it is Liverpool and Everton fans having the craic, where as any thread that mentions Celtic you have people who have no interest in Celtic or Rangers jumping in and taking out this new fashion trend of having a dig at Celtic even though they have no interest in either club.

I for One don't go on here calling Celtic an Irish club, I go on here for the craic about the national team and the EL, but there are some who try and for what ever reason make it a crime to even mention Celtic or to even like them becomes a major issue.

I think the mod's do a good job and after all this is a message board about Irish football, but this is not about old firm fans bringing in petty and childish arguments full of hate with each other, it is more a case of anytime Celtic is mentioned people bringing up the same arguments to attack the club and its fans.
Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.

It's very black and white. Whatever about Celtic's so-called Irish roots, Celtic is in the SPL, which has nothing to do with Irish football.

People seem to be having difficulty understanding me, so here it is in a nutshell: There will never be a Celtic forum on Foot.ie. Never. Ever.

It would completely defeat the purpose of the site. Let that be an end to discussion on the subject.

Well, with all due respect POB, it's as much your fault for not being able to deal with trolls as it is theirs for started it. It takes two to tango.

In my experience, when trolls are ignored they get bored and go away pretty quickly. Stupid people have short attention spans.

I don't want a Celtic forum on this site, but I do want to be able discuss Celtic playing football in the world football forum when I have something to talk about without having to give my reason for supporting them and discussing the political issues between rangers and Celtic, and without fools coming on trooling slagging off the club just for political reasons and not mentioning the football..

just like Chelsea fans can talk about their club and Man U fans and barca fans I can go on and on

yeah, I can understand that- the problem is that every single thread on Celtic degenerates into the same ol' ****e. And that leaves two options:
    1. Mods can police the threads very strictly, i.e. babysit them 24/7
    2. Ban the threads.
Option 1 is quite frankly far too time-consuming, so option 2 is all thats left IMO

I am well aware that it is partly my fault that I'll answer back, I know that I should report it to a mod but I haven't in the past and I doubt if I'll start now, so bascially as I was saying if the board is allowed Celtic threads in the future, I'll be best avoiding them. Shame the football bits I did enjoy.
Where am I now? I'm over here,
I've got those empty pockets and I can't afford a beer.

Don't worry Pat, Aldini98 and I have mutually agreed that I'm going to drown him in Cyprus

What if 1 or 2 people could be part-time mods and just agree to keep an eye on such threads and report them if there are issues...
