Just a suggestion here-not having a crack at the mods/Adams judgement or anything.....but if we had a Celtic board could this solve some of the trouble?
If every thread abou Celtic had to be discussed in this board as a rule then it would mean any problems contained to one plac and not darkening the doorsteps of world football etc.
It could also mean rules could be a bit more lax on that specific board as we knowit owuld not spill over into the main forum?

I for once agree with the mods about Celtic/ Rangers threads. I didn't post on it because even if it hadn't desended into a war at the stage where it was locked it would sooner or later head in that direction.
I know it doesn't make the mods jobs easier but I find it difficult to report issues when I feel that we can argue them out our selfs, then again all this means is that the mod will have to wade through our arguements going around in circles, so whats the solution?
a) ban celtic threads; v. extreme and excludes quite a topics that people who post on this board have a genuine (non political) interest in.
b) any trolling to be reported to a mod, great in theory but its probably not going to happen, if for example someone calls us Plastic Paddies I know that I would find it difficult to let it go without giving it a response, esp knowing that the post would probably not be deleted.
c) posters ignore trolling; see above.
d) I'm at a loss for a d) however if we do have an idea to hold the peace whenever Celtic are mentioned any chance of the threads being allowed to be opened again?

Liam, that question has been asked and answered several times, you should know better than to ask it again.
POB, we don't have a problem with the football discussion, we have a problem with people not being able to grow up and stick to that subject. There has been no evidence that this is going to happen. Same old, same old.

Sorry fair play-just thought it was a relevant time and i'd rahter dicuss Celtic here than the HuddleboardOriginally Posted by dahamsta

What about some kind of Celtic agreement which people have to accept-something along the lines of:
-Celtic have strong Irish links giving every Irish person a right to support them
-This is a right not an obligation and anyone who does not support Celtic is no less Irish
-Celtic also has a huige fan base in Scotland and across the world-it is not exclusivly Irish
-It is someones own choice to follow any football team they like be it EL, SPL, Premiership or other
-People must accept all teams have bad elements-Rangers fans are not all scum
-Yes Celtic fans through banna's; it's in the past
-Just because someone supports Celtic it does not mean that they are Republican/A "plastic paddy"/in the IRA
-Just because someone supports Rangers it does not mean they are Loyalist/in the Orange Order/in Combat 18
-Terms such as "hun" and "ceptic" (in reference to Celtic) are immature and not acceptable
-It's spelt Celtic however it is pronounced-get over it
-If someone chooses to support Celtic in place of the national team that's their own decision just like it would be to support Man. Utd in place of Ireland

1. This is an Irish football site, Celtic are Scottish.
2. There is room for discussion of any non-Irish football in the world footbll forum, and people just abuse it when it comes to these two clubs.
Fair enough. I'll have to be honest about this, I'd be delighted to stick simply to football matters when it comes to Celtic in future but the reality is that if Celtic discussions come up again I'll not even open the thread as I know that someone who has no interest in the thread will use it as an opportunity for some childish trolling about plastic paddies or the like (yes I do mean people like aldini) and I won't be able to ignore it, would anyone else on the board ignore similar insults? And yes I'm well aware that I should go to a mod about the matter but I know that I wouldn't.Originally Posted by dahamsta
As I said before; threads that I have no interest in I don't tend to open so I fail to see why others on here don't take the same notion when it comes to Celtic.

It's not black and white. It's not either / or. As a matter of a fact, you're trying to spin the very reason WHY Brother Walfrid called the club CELTIC - a name that recognized BOTH it's IRISH AND SCOTTISH roots. Don't ever be so foolish as to detach Irish from Celtic's very roots and strong traditions, nobody with the slightest bit of common sense buys it. Take away Irish from Celtic and the club doesn't exist.Originally Posted by Éanna

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
I agree with Adam & the mods (Sounds like a band). The minute I see 'Celtic' in the thread title I just have no interest in opening it or reading it. It's drivel that just descends into farce. Politics is a part of these clubs, it's tiresome.
There's a Merseyside thread in the world football forum that is 29 pages long, with something like 570+ posts, and it has been running from early on in the season. It's good banter between fans of the two clubs without turning into farce. Nothing wrong with having a lively discussion or having a go at another club but not every, single, time.... Maybe those who post in the Celtic threads should read it and understand the difference between banter and childishness.
Cause there's always someone new ready to start a ruck so it would do no good in the long run.Originally Posted by dahamsta
