TWO second half goals proved enough to lift Dermot Keely's Dublin City to the top of the First Division.

City began well and thought they'd taken the lead after 16 minutes but Michael Holt's effort was ruled out for offside.

However, Holt was on target just after the hour mark when he unleashed an unstoppable shot from outside the penalty area.

And the Vikings stretched their lead on 73 minutes when Robbie Collins converted from close range.

On Saturday, Sligo Rovers were surprisingly beaten at home by Monaghan when David Lee struck the winner.

At Buckley Park, Brian Mallon's own goal and a first goal of the season from Iarfhlaith Davoren sealed three points for Athlone Town against Kilkenny City.
