    Rise up to you?

    Ok, actually that is pedantic.

    Ollie is like any other pro footballer, trying to make the most of his relatively short career and get the best deal he can for himself. That's business. I can't fault him for that.

    It's Peadar, and Erika that's all well and good but isn't the saying, "go n-eirí an bothair leat"? as in May the road rise to meet you hoping that someones journey will be easier.

    Eh A Face, no ganging up on me or I'll get my sister on the case, she's an Irish teacher.

    Not saying your wrong Erika because I'm not great at languages but I just thought that it didn't make sense.

    Anyway Ollie Cahill should stay.

    Go n-éírí leat is definately good luck. Roughly translated it means "may you succeed".
    Whatever it was I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?

    It's taken from an old Irish blessing.
    Here it is in English;
    May the road rise up to meet you.
    May the wind be always at your back.
    May the sun shine warm upon your face;
    the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
    may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

    You wish that the road rises up to meet their feet and make it an easier journey.

    I accept that many of you have heard it used and used it yourself as a way of wishing good luck. I just didn't know that prior to this thread. You learn something new every day.
