Pat Dolan..Christ almighty..If Cork couldn't afford to keep him and he nearly bankrupted Pats I don't think he'd be the man for our club somehow. Loves Longford..just like he loved Cork but told Pats fans it was just a job and it was Pats he really loved. By the way on his type of football, St.Pat's weren't known as Set Piece Athletic for nothing when he was in charge.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Apart from Shels Ive seen Longford more then any other team this season and its been the same every game... Matthews is useless!! The type of football Longford are playing is losing fans of the Eircom League.

For the first 20 mins down there Shels were much better tried to play decent football and were worth the 2-0 lead. Then for whatever reason Shels decided to go into long ball mode and for the remaining 70 mins we got superb hoofing One of the worst games Ive seen in the EL and the few fans who did turn up cant have been impressed. Longford started that way but shels quickly joined in!! It was awful stuff and both managers should take the blame. Ive seen shels pass it about against Waterford and Pats so its not always the longball game with us but for the 4 times Ive seen Longford they are at it the whole time...

    Its turning fans awy..

Quicker you get that clown out the better

In fairness higgins, I doubt you saw the game against Bray. We played some brilliant stuff which led to Pat Devlin and Pip Keogh saying that we were the best team that they had played so far, even though they had played 2 of the "title contenders" in Cork and Drogs.

We are a good match for anyone in this league on our day, we are just too inconsistent.

I wouldn't say he's useless, Longford are a very effective team, i just think he could be a little more adventurous with his tactics

Ignore Max Power, he is no more, the future is Ron Burgundy. I'd love to be Ron Burgundy but they won't let me........

My thoughts exactly. He's not useless, he's achieved alot with Longford, but the type of football on show v Shels and when I've seen Longford on the TV will drive people away from the ground very quickly, which ultimately is very very bad.

As for your closing remark, it just doesn't deserve a response.
I don't think he was blaming Longford for poor attendances, just pointing out that the "style" of football longford play at the moment wouldn't exactly attract people to matches- and he is dead right there.

    Thumbs up

Last nights win was a great boost Macy but it does not put the issue of the style of play to bed. I enjoyed the game which was played at a great pace and with plenty of commitment by both teams. Longford I believe had the better players but in my opinion Glentoran knocked the ball around better and looked more comfortable on it. I think that the pitch should be extended to the maximum width possible to give our players more room for manouver and enable the pace of Prunty, Barrett and Kirby to be maximised. Alan needs to start believing that his players can play a bit and give them the room to do so.
This is not knocking Alan rather constructive critisism after a most enjoyable victory.

i presume you mean his introduction of Lavine and Keegan to go three up front. They seemed to make a big difference alright.Funny how they made the difference against glens both home and away and yet constently left on the bench.

Avril is only good for three things(1.)leppen about on the pitch missing simple chances (did you see the look Barrett gave her when she missed an absolute sitter on Monday he would have her out long age) (2.)Giving the crowd a silly two worded chant (my head) (3.) Chasing you ones around longford. And that it. Its not just one game its how many cup finals and the entire knock out stages. The reality is this competition is worth more to the club at the moment than anything else (financially) and as all have been saying Longford are cup specialists. Top four in league at the moment is as good as it gets at the moment (if we are Lucky). Anyway winning cups is brilliant, scoring goals at last minuets (as we are good at) is brilliant, Alan Matthews is brilliant isn’t football brilliant.........Brilliant.........Brilliant

Keegan wouldnt but avril certaintly would be.You guys are going on about lavine not commited to training and all this bulls*it.How the hell would you fools know what goes on.Neway my point is when Lavine goes out there he will work his socks off.I cant believe anyone who knows anything about football fail to see the impact he makes when he comes on.He wins his headers 90% of the time and for a man 5ft 9 or so playing for the biggest hoofers in the league thats very good.Aswell as that he actually gives a damn when he is on the field which is more than can be said for Baker.
