    Tomás McGauley

The ex-Dublin City centre half apparently played in our reserves 3-1 defeat to Galway United's second string recently. Anybody have anything more to say about that? He was a handy player with Dublin City when they won the First Division two years ago, I dunno what happened to him last year really. He was a bit of a poser and a pretty boy but he offered a lot at set-pieces too.

And JoeSoap, is there any chance you could let us know in advance here if there are any reserve games coming up? It's be appreciated!

Well let's get him fit then! Hopefully he won't disappear like Darren Young seems to have done... what's the story with him while I'm asking questions?

I thought he was still with the squad. He just isnt getting a look in with NOC. He played in the friendly against Galway at the weekend.

Taking this thread even further off topic (and I'm a moderator and all... ) I think Brian Donnellan could be a very good player for Limerick. He's always been able to take people on and I think he's added to his game in the almost two full seasons he was away. That said, he's very much a right-sided player and I wish NOC would give him a run there. Donnellan's criticised for his crossing at times but given that they're all almost all coming off his weaker foot I think he does alright. I think he's better than Jamie Nolan personally so if Young is a good player then I'd put him on the left and push Brian onto the right wing.

Donellan's okay - I take your point about playing on the wrong side. However, his crossing is poor even off his good foot - witness that he takes about 5 corners to eventually get one past the front of the six yard box. He is good at beating players - my problem with him is that he doesn't look enough. His use of the ball isn't great. His defensive contribution also is less than brilliant - which keeps Tobin well pinned back.

I'd like to see Young given a chance (whenhe's fit - although why isn't he fit now?. Okay - he doesn't have match fitness - but that is always an excuse for making no changes). I'd also like to see Rossi tried - he is a good player and I think his big problem is that he needs to fight for a place - he didn't need to do it last year and this explained his poor performances.

I wouldn't be so sure about Donnellan's position in the team being secure. I know that it takes a few games to get up to speed in the Eircom League after playing junior football and Brian in that case has done well. He's scored two good goals, is able to beat a player but oppose to that then is that his crossing hasn't been great at times, as LFCIE said look at the corners he has taken with his right foot. Covering back defensively he hasn't been very good. I think NOC should have switched Donnellan and Nolan at times during matches but saying that, if it came down to it, I wouldn't drop Nolan because I think he is a better player. It would be nice to get a look at Young considering the hype about him and having a left footed player on the left wing would give the team a better balance.
Limerick 37, its so shiny and new we dare not take the cover off.
