The new Wembley had applied for the 2007 Champions League Final.
They wont be too happy with it going to Athens!
GREAT. Another trip back to Holland, this time to see the HIBEE'S in the UEFA Cup final. SWEET![]()
The Philipsstadion is one of the biggest ones in the Benelux, 36000 places is not really small after all. The stands are quite steep, but they're very close to the field, which gives a great atmosphere.
why dont they use the Amsterdam arena (51,000) or even Feyenoords ground that can hold around (51,000) aswell??![]()
Hampden Park again??

2002: Champions League final,
just five years, and another euro-final...
Maybe they try to give international splendour instead of the national team![]()

I'm 21, I'm italian, but I love Ireland, and I always support the irish national team!
Amsterdam and Rotterdam have had their European finals, so I guess they want to give Eindhoven their share as well. Fair enough, they got a quality ground and excellent training facilities as well.
A List of Stadiums that Deserve European Finals:
Kiev: Central Stadium
Belgrade: Red Star Stadium
Budapest: Nep Stadium
Helsinki: Olympic Stadium
Naples: San Nicola Stadium
Marseille: Stade Velodrome
Madrid: Bernabeau Stadium
Lisbon: Stadium of Light
Berlin: Olympic Stadium
Cardiff: Millenium Stadium
Dublin: Croke Park
Glasgow: Parkhead
Spilt: Polijule Stadium
Sofia: Vassil Levski Stadium
St Petersburg (Leningrad): Kirov Stadium
Anyone with other suggestions?

Yeah I agree with most of them. They should hold one in southern Italy, probably Naples, as its a city that loves football but doesnt have a proper team anymore. To be honest I dont think they'll hold one in Croke Park, they would have an issue over the standing, if theres one in Dublin it will probably be after LR is rebuilt. Also with haveing had 2 in Scotland this decade it will be a while before its in Glasgow. I'd imagine Wembley will get one soon.
Obviously Italy confirms his third-world class at the moment in football, having no grounds responding well to the uefa rules.
Just two are ok, but they are out if it's to think about hosting a final.
This is one of the many reasons of the decline of italian world of football, in my opinion...

Kiev stadium rather old and as Kiev is not easy to reach (in a very eastern corner of Europe) I don't see it happening anytime soon TBH. Not many European cities have direct flights to go there, and usually they pick a venue somewhat central in Europe or at least with direct connections to the main Central European cities.Originally Posted by Thunderblaster
I think Moscow would be a more logical option in the former USSR, as it is relatively easy to reach from most European cities.
In Belgium, maybe Anderlecht could host a European final, though its 28000 capacity may be a bit small.
My own favourites Rosenborg have a fine stadium but face the same problem. The only Scandinavian stadium outside of Sweden able to host a European final is the Parken stadium in Copenhagen.
Vienna has a very nice stadium (Ernst Happel) which would certainly be able to host a final.
What do you guys think BTW of a European final outside of Europe in order to promote soccer worldwide ?
The Italian super-cup (pre-season game between champions and cup winners) has already been hosted in Libya (on request of Khadafi) and in New York (to promote soccer in the USA). The latter one was not unlogical as there are many Italian immigrants in the US, and as soccer is a sport of growing popularity in the States. Eventually a European final in New York or Washington could be possible as well, both have excellent stadiums. The problem of course is to take the fans of participating clubs across the Ocean, but I think if a fan is prepared to travel to the other side of Europe for his team that (s)he also wouldn't mind a short American travel.
Rome and Milan have great facilities, and though I don't like the athletics track around the field I must say also Turin has a venue meeting all standards.Originally Posted by tonycuna

I live in Turin, and I've been many times @Delle Alpi. That athl tracks make much more distance between you and the field, and also the gradient of the stands make all harder.
But apart from this, Italy has a real problem with violence, and surely not since Inter-Milan of Ch.League ten days ago.
Every matchday there is something that happen into the stadiums about violence between fans, or with fans and police. There aren't a steward service, there aren't appropriated laws and, most of all, there isn't a social way of thinking about sport based on fair play and fun.
That's why I think Italy can't host a eurofinal almost for the next couple of year...
