I don’t get it, he’s not English qualified.
Think I'd prefer him to stay another year at Stoke to be honest. Get a full year of first team football under his belt and if he's still a standout this time next year make the move to the Premier League then. Would worry that he'd get lost at United as an 18 year old similar to what has happened to Masterson at Liverpool.

Signs new five-year contract at Stoke - https://www.stokecityfc.com/news/tee...-pens-new-deal
Starts today for stoke
Stoke going badly so far, sounds like Collins was culpable for one of the QPR goals.
Such faith they have in Collins. He's 18 whilst goalkeeper Adam Federici is almost double his age!

Solid game today by all accounts. Stoke fans pushing for him to start ahead of Lindsay and Batth. Ideally with Shawcross as his partner. It would be fantastic for him to get a run of games before the summer

Really encouraging response to his reintroduction to the team from the fans after their 0-0 against Blackburn midweek, having conceded 8 in their previous 2 away games (Lenihan captained Blackburn at the other end to their 3rd clean sheet in 4).
Seemingly very mature, comfortable on the ball and great positional sense, a strong kid too by the look of the size of him. A lot of talk about him being a “Rolls Royce of a player” and eventually good enough for a top European club.
A future pairing of him and O’Shea has great potential. No substitute for innate positional sense and footballing intelligence at the back. With Masterson and Lenihan waiting in the wings also, we should be sorted there for a while:

Just noticed he was still dropped back to the bench today.
Not surprising that on loan Chester was preferred in their ongoing relegation battle. But disappointing. Shawcross is now fit again and will be returning in next week or so. Such a shame that Stoke signed a 31 year old centre back on loan in January stunting Collins potential growth. He should see more game time before season ends though, looks very good
Came on at 85 minutes to try to protect their lead, as he’s done on a few occasions. Alas, Chester conceded a penalty in injury time with James Collins slotting home
The forgotten man starts for the first time for Stoke in what seems like ages. Really needs to start impressing O'Neill but thrown in at the deep end away to Wolves. Hopefully its not too painful.
I saw he wasn’t even on bench at weekend when they played 3 central defenders. Currently 4th or 5th choice centre back? Definitely behind Chester, Batth, Indi Martins. Even though he’s young, he can’t settle for the same bit part appearances as last season. Should push for at least a short team league one loan until the new year. Needs regular football
Their 21 year old central defender Souttar really impressed tonight, fans calling for him to get a run in the first team. Makes Collins the current 5th choice centre back, although O’Neill seems to like 3-5-2
Sounds like he made his case with a good performance and a clean sheet tonight. Although his central defence partner Souttar (Australian senior international) also went well. Serious amount of competition at centre back there for a Championship club. Hopefully he can get games either at Stoke or go on loan, I have a huge amount of hope for this lad, think he's our best central defence prospect alongside O'Shea.
Yes, agree he’s got the pedigree and attributes to go all the way. But seems to have stagnated under O’Neill. He needs a loan ASAP like so many of our youngsters
