Maybe they’re announcing that they've found the cupboard where Vinny Perth hid his modesty during the Kenny era. It’s some asset: just think what Jawn Delaney and Conor McGregor would pay for a while out of the limelight. 'Twould easily fund a new stadium.
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

So the big announcement is that Dundalk will be wearing a third kit which raises funds for a hospital in Dublin ?

What about the perfectly good hospital in Dundalk ?

Mike Tracey saying on twitter they were doing something no league of ireland team had done before ......
......i think he must have meant never in the history of his involvement in the LOI has a club given money to charity via kit sales....lol
And even then he'd be wrong, Bohs are doing it on their 3rd kit and i don't think they are the only ones.

Own goal PR wise , expectation wise and if i was working in the regional hospital i'd be thinking "thanks a lot Mike"

CSR? Not really, just the C bit - there's more to CSR than wearing a jersey. Still, it means there's a good news story in the national media about the league and that's always worthwhile. It didn't warrant the ballyhoo about the announcement though. Somebody needs a refresher course in PR.

Bohs and Rovers did the joint pink kit for breast cancer a few years back too.

Was it just on here that people said today's conference was linked to the stadium or was it a rumour that gained genuine traction?

It was a rumour that grew legs due to the hype from the club on this announcement.
It’s a worthy cause and a good news story for the league but there didn’t need to be such a big build up that has inevitably left a lot of people disappointed.

A shoddily colored kit was the big news. Yeah, it's for Charity, great. Genuinely. but what a hoopla just for a kit. If there's genuine stadium development news, it better have a buildup akin to a Game of Thrones Season Trailer.

I realize any attempt to tidy up the stadium news thread is an exercise in utter futility, but nevertheless I have done so anyway since Harps fans are no strangers to futility and indeed despair.

Well done to the club, CX+, and Fyffes for such a great initiative.

It was also great to see the club drumming up interest via the clever use of social media.

Very charitable view of things, Tracey in particular looks like a bit of an eejit.
It's a good idea but it's been done before and given the clamour for peak6 to actually invest in dundalk other tha the first team it's a bit of an own goal.
Anyway, move on, nothing to see here

In the past LOI clubs have been notoriously rubbish at marketing. They've done a great job of building suspense and interest here just because it's not what most people wanted to hear doesn't make it a failure. People are talking about it and that makes it a success. Not to mention a great cause

Is Temple Street exclusive to Dublin children?

Sadly the HSE don't agree with your assessment of the 'perfectly good' hospital in Dundalk.

So you've no problem with your Chairman going out on social media saying DFC are doing something "never done before by any LOI club" and then announcing a 3rd kit to benefit a charity which has been done several times before?
I'm not having a go for the sake of having a go, its a credibility/professional thing IMO .
Next time Tracey puts something out people will assume its more BS and is that what you want for your Chairman?

Hasten to add BTW , fantastic cause and any money raised is well needed by the hospital.
Whoever came up with the idea deserves praise for it, the PR around it is a completely separate issue.

This is a fantastic move by DFC / Fyffes changing the kit / giving up the sponsor for cup games, but it has since been clarified that its only 'selected' not 'all' cup games, for example if Dundalk reached the FAI Cup Final, this kit will not be used.

As for the hype and the build up, I do not understand that, they could have easily added in a clue to what it was, a lot and not jsut DFC fans thought (or hoped) it would have been something about the ground.

Good cause, and I'll support it by making a donation, just no need to over pre hype it up like that.

All the more reason for its local football team to fundraise to help make it better, so
