On 23 minutes Fahroudin Kudozovic sent a cross into the area and defender John Hayes sliced the ball past Cobh 'keeper Anthony Fennelly.
Six minutes later Alan Carey levelled it and sealed a point for his side.

It was a real end-to-end match with loads of pace. I'd say the average age of both teams was about 21. Mad stuff.
Sligo took the lead with an o.g. from Hayes and shortly after Sligo hit the crossbar with a looping header. Shortly before half time Cobh scored through an awesome Alan Carey free kick that viciously curled into the top right hand corner.
The second half was more of the same with Sligo having the upper hand in terms of possession with Cobh using their pace on the counter. Sligo went close a number of times as both goals led a charmed life. In the end it was Cobh who were hanging on as Sligo went in search of the winner.
On the evidence of tonight I would fancy Sligo to win the league this year. They have real pace and as the weather gets better they will really show their stuff.![]()
Cobh were outplayed for large parts of the match but they are full of pace up front and will cause a lot of team problems.
Great match though and well worth the trip down.![]()
BTW Kieren O'Reilly and Henderson exchanged a few words when Henderson substituted him. thinking that he was injured. Reilly stormed off to the dressing room in disgust. It did not look good between them.![]()
Good report Harry, thanks. Nice to hear we outplayed them too.Cheers!

Harry's appraisal is pretty much accurate but I don't think Sligo outplayed us. It was more a case of us not playing particularly well, an understandable perspective in my unbiased view!!
Sligo's no 3 was an excellent player as was No.7, draw was about a fair result.
I would regard Sligo as being the best side that we have played thus far.

That's Kupono Low and Rafael Cretaro. They are great alrightOriginally Posted by Comic Book Guy

Cobh Ramblers 1-1 Sligo Rovers
Alan Carey 29
John Hayes 23 (o.g.)
Top two draw in division 1
The top of the table clash in the first division ended in a 1-1 draw at St. Colman's Park, Cobh last night.
The draw leaves Cobh ahead of Sligo on goal-difference at the top of the table but that will change if Sligo are deducted six points in the coming week.
Sligo took the lead last night and there was a hint of fortune about the source of the goal. Faz Kudozovic drilled a free-kick into the Cobh area and in the confusion, John Hayes turned the ball into his own net on 23 minutes.
Alan Carey hit his third goal of the season to bring Cobh level with a stunning thirty yard free-kick finding the back of the Sligo net on the half hour.
That was it as far as goals were concerned and Cobh will the happier side with the news that they will probably go clear at the top in midweek.
Cobh Ramblers : Fennelly, Hayes, Kiely, Falvey, Meade, Carey, Clifford, Cummins (Mulconry 73), White (Lougheed 82), O'Neill, O'Reilly (O'Shea 29).
Sligo Rovers : O'Hara, Gallagher (O'Donnell 40), Carr, McNamara, Low, Cretaro, Kuduzovic, Feeney, McCartney, Foley, Alvarez (Tosh 75).
About time ryan got a chance.Good to see steve feeney back in team sa well.O'Grady must still be injured.
Sligo Rovers maintained their unbeaten run and second place in the table by taking a point away from St Coleman's Park with a performance that so easily could have delivered more.
It could be argued that the Bit O'Red were worth the victory following a confident and convincing first half performance but with things tightening up in the second forty five and a golden chance spurned by Ramblers mid way through the half, Rovers were happy to take the point that was targeted before the game began.
Sean Connor was without the services of Liam Burns (unavailable) and Conor O’Grady (injured) but with Gerry Carr and Steve Feeney coming in to replace them, the visitors showed few signs of being unsettled by the absence of Rovers two most consistent performers this season.
Rovers started briskly as they sought to impose themselves on the unbeaten hosts, but it was fifteen minutes before either goal being threatened as Ciaran Foley hooked an effort over the bar with his back to goal, but there were no celebration for the Rovers fans who made the five hour journey.
However, the Bit O’Red faithful didn’t have too long to wait as eight minutes later, they took the lead. A free kick by Kudozovic flew into the box was helped on by Gerry Carr, but in the confusion of a crowded box Cobh defender, John Hayes, turned the ball into his own net.
The lead did not last beyond the half hour though. Despite the visitor’s dominance and further half chances from Alvarez and Feeney, it was Cobh who snatched the second goal of the game against the run of play.
There seemed little danger when Cretaro was adjudged to have committed a foul thirty yards from his own goal. Nobody expected what happened next as up stepped Alan Carey to fire a scorcher into the top corner leaving John O’Hara no chance.
Rovers rallied and were unlucky not to take the lead just before half time when Carr hit the bar with a header that rebounded out to Alvarez, whose point blank effort was smothered by Fennelly.
The second half was a closer, tightly fought contest that was notable for two great chances, one for each side. The first came midway through the half when Michael O’Shea crossed into the path of substitute Davin O’Neill who fumbled his shot and allow Gerry Carr to recover and clear his lines. This was a real let-off for Rovers and the miss may well have been rued by the home side as two minutes into injury time, Steve Feeney struck a shot low and hard towards the bottom corner, but Fennelly brilliantly got down to deny Rovers a last gasp winner.

On the night I was very impressed with Sligo's workrate, they play a very high tempo game. Easily the best Sligo team I have seen in Cobh in the past few years, very well organised and very fit. If the forwards can start scoring they will be very hard to beat.
Ramblers are a very young team who played well on the night. Will not be a pushover for any team this year and deserve to be where they are at present. A good management team now in place, Cobh will be there or there abouts this season. A big improvement from the Dave Hill era.

That I am afraid will be our downfall, if we don't get a striker who can actually put the ball in the net.
We have tightened up at the back and improved midfield but our forward line is weak
The lads must have improved on the limerick display. Now lets just pray to god we don't lose 6 points!!!
sean connor was at a meeting with the fai in dublin today any word on the outcome
