Charlie Kirk the latest to take a bullet. Irrespective of whatever political opinions you hold, this type of carry-on is awful. There are so many topics that are discourse and debate-worthy but that art now seems to be dead in favour of piggishness, divisiveness and violence.

Yeah its a nasty one, but blood loss in the vid was actually not as bad as it may look, didnt hit a artery, but plenty of other important bits and pieces that could have been shredded, I wont do the seen worse stuff. A lot of people headed towrard him after the gunshot which was brave as nobody knew it was a sinngle target.
What he said about gun violence is now the height of some self fulfilling prophecy. Its now a super risky time, the backlash is unknown but could be extreme, it will be used to justify additional use of the military in civilian roles, the squeeze in the news cycle on Trump and Epstein is done, depending on the background and otives of the shooter it'll get tense. What it wont do is bring about meaningful discussion on gun control. No matter what this is already spun as an attack no maga.
Is it crass to suggest that maybe being out of a world cup thats partly held in the US in less than a year might be no harm!? Though its not quite 60s levels of political assasinations and DNC riots, getting battered at war....yet.

People have been calling for the American media to tone down the rhetoric for a long time now, because of the likelihood of this happening and now it has. The thing about Charlie Kirk is he invited people to discuss issues in public. And because of this he's murdered. This was a planned assassination

The attempts on Scalise and Trump have been from lunatics and I suspect the same will be the case with Charlie, we'll see. I say lunatics because they are obviously very unstable people but you cannot escape the fact that the mainstream media ramped up the language about conservatives and were asked to stop because something like this might happen. And sure enough it did so the media (that would be the left leaning media) played a big part in this.

Agreed. And its just not helpful. Where I do agree with mark is that Charlie Kirk was someone who actually engaged in debate and discourse and put himself out there to try and talk, convince, be convinced etc... whether it was sincere or not, it was the right thing to do. Whether you agreed with him or not, it was the right thing to do. I just think that its awful sad - not so much because of him - but because its another wedge issue and another way to take dialogue off the table when its the only thing that will fix our problems. F**k it anyway.
