This is news to me. Why hasn't anyone mentioned this before?

We are what 5 or 6 years on from becoming challangers for the league, 7 from going out of existance. It will take longer still to get a Louth County Council magic wand waved even if Dundalk FC paid every cent for a new ground. Planning process alone could take 2+ years and thats without considering the time warping effect that LoI ground developments seem happen within. I'm sure if we had a super stadium with heated seats you would find something to irk you RH. That's not being defensive simply an observation.

As an FAI final it should be hosted appropriately whether it's in a ground that's up to peoples satisfaction of aesthetics on TV, or not being shoehorned in to an evening fixture slot a couple of hours after league game from a completely different league. No issues with the Brandywell as mentioned, but it's not showing respect to a national final by the organisers either.
Listen I'm not getting into the Oriel Park debate again, all I'm saying is that finals of the premier football competitions in this country should be held in a ground befitting the occasion and at this moment Oriel Park is not that so it should be excluded from the equation until such a time that it is. Getting to host a big occasion is a reward not a right. For the purpose of this discussion I couldn't give a flying **** about if plans are in the works or not, its irrelevant until plans are completed, until Oriel isn't a **** hole it shouldn't be allowed to host national league finals, simple as, show the competition some respect.

It was a genuine question about Tallaght Stadium, from starting to being able to hold games was how long?

I dont disagree that a national final shouldnt be played in a fitting stadium. What that is determined by is always going to be based on opinion. Was Ferrycarraig an appropriate venue when it was held there? The League Cup is a competition that does seem to reward clubs like Wexford Youths, Markest Field was also used recently, ED Park too (and I'm not making a compasiron with Oriel either!!). It's a toss of a coin of course so it may not have fallen in the favour of those clubs but at the time I didnt see too many having issue with Ferrycarrig for example, people felt that it would be a shot in the arm for the club.

About 3900 afaik. 3700 seats and standing room for 200 either side of Mark Farren stand.

As far as I'm aware, the stadium is considered all-seater so there is no standing capacity.

The FAI will take a chunk of the tickets for themselves, sponsors etc.

3,900 seated, and they released a couple of hundred terrace tickets too. First time they've down that.

I expect that the Bluebell Bar near the stadium will be jammers pre-match. Any suggestions for alternative places to watch the All-Ireland replay on tv?

Dundalk will wear their Temple St Children's Hospital kit for the final this evening.

Ciaran Callan gives some background on the charity initiative

The Oak Grove on Bishop Street could be a shout, though it'll be busy too.

Peadar O'Donnell's (or any of the bars beside it) on Waterloo Street would be good too, just slightly further away from the ground. You can walk it in a brisk 10 minutes though.

EirSports have a perfect stream, but no sound ...

Edit : Overlaid with Radio Foyle sorts it out.

    Poor poor Goalkeeping there

Silly challenge by Gillespie for his second yellow, but no contact. McGrath the cheat with the dive.
