Enjoyable game in the Brandywell last night.
Waterford were much improved over last week in the league and really put it up to us. A draw at full time was fair, but we bossed extra time. The sending off didn't help matters, obviously.

Four goals for Parkhouse was pretty special, but we'd a bit of sloppy defending for Waterford's goals. Need to improve on that.

Great crowd up from Waterford, even with it being a bank holiday in the south.
Have you ever won the treble?

It would have helped Waterford in a big way to have a final considering the negativity of recent. Congrats to the League Cup specialists though. It's hard to know whether it'd be a good thing for Dundalk to beat Bohs with all the other committments (especially if we do get a result v Slovan) but a final is a final and if we get there with the 'reserve/u19s' then it will have its benefits. With the cyclical nature of football I dont think anyone should dismiss the opportunity to win some silverware so I dont agree with some of the Dundalk support that feel we could do without these couple of games. There was a suggestion by one or two that we should just withdraw from the competition but for me that is a bad case of forgetting where we have come from not so long ago!!

There is absolutely no need for Dundalk to withdraw from the competition. You have the biggest squad in the league, and worst case scenario can just play reserves/U19s

My personal view is that if a club withdraws form a tournament for their own benefit then they should be banned from entering it again for the next 2 seasons. The FA should have done it to Manchester United when they pulled out of the FA Cup years back because they were too busy with the World Club Championships. If a club shows disrespect to a major trophy, they shouldn't receive any back in return. How Man U fans would love a good FA Cup run these days

I doubt that there is even the remotest prospect of Dundalk withdrawing. It would be both disrespectful and arrogant.

Even if Dundalk overcome the odds and get past Slovan Bratislava the play-off rounds are complete by 29 August. It would be wonderful if we could continue this conversation at the end of August discussing the demands of Dundalks EL group matches from 18 Sept, but sadly I think it improbable

Just in case, iwithdrawing was a notion mooted by a few fans, the club would never consider it. John Gill at the start of the season was asked how last seasons double could be bettered and he said 'win the treble'!

Has that postponed outstanding League Cup semi final been confirmed for next Monday?
Surely the two under 19`s teams should be let play it?

There is nothing to stop either side doing that.

I do hope that Paddy Kirk and Andy Lyons play - at least for the latter stages of the match

Would have thought your focus would be on getting the right Ref to " officiate"

The penalties have really dried up recently. Just one in six European games. Time to rotate Daniel Kelly back into the team, see if he can have an impact in the general vicinity of the penalty box

Just wait until after Monday 😁 another late home pen and our fans could do serious improvement to Oriel Park 😎

Flores, Folan & Benson are all back in training but probably won't feature tonight, think we have a full compliment aside from that. It will be interesting to see if Jarvis is back in the squad after his return to training last week due to an "internal issue". Looking forward to the game, hopefully both teams still have goals left in them after Friday night!

I expect a good few changes from Friday night - probably Gannon, Boyle, Cleary and Massey to come back in defence, Patrick Hoban, John Mountney and Jamie McGrath might also play.

    Team news
Jordan Flores (hip flexor), Stephen Folan (knee) and Robbie Benson (rib) have all resumed training after their respective injuries, but tomorrow is likely to come too soon for them. Everyone else in the squad is fit and we have no suspensions to contend with.

Would like to see a strong team out tonight as it’s a semi but expect a mixture, especially with a winnable home FAI Cup tie on Friday.
Hopefully 3rd time lucky at Oriel on a Monday night (and no late incidents in/close to/ around the penalty box)
Have Dundalk picked the ref for this game yet ? 😎

We have asked for Paul McLoughlin for this one - if he is still based in Monaghan at least he won't have too far to travel.

Luminous paint currently being used for the penalty box markings to help him with any fouls at the box.

Looking forward Patrick Hoban slipping on a banana skin for tonight's last minute penalty.
