Yeah, it was announced as a league attendance record for Tallaght stadium. Hopefully it'll be broken again this season. The potential is definitely there, it's a credit to SDCC that they've continued to push with the development and turned it into a great community venue, with Rovers as the anchor.

    Excellent stuff Nigel.

I've started keeping a spreadsheet of the attendances too now and was going to chip in the figures over the next few days if you hadn't had the chance. Happy to stand back, or to lend you a hand on it all - whichever you fancy, as it's your baby.

Thanks again for posting the above. Some really encouraging figures in there.

Some impressive increases there. When you think that Bray and Shels are a sniff away from 1,000 average in the FD and Galway are well over that, and Dundalk are a whisker off the PD having four teams averaging over 3k there's something positive happening. Great to see, and long may it continue. Cork's the aberration, though. Artificial high in previous seasons, or results and style of play not holding fans?
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

That must be worth about €60,000 to the club in ticket sales roughly? 4,500-5,000 non season ticket holders at an average of €12 a ticket works out at €54,000-60,000. Before you add everything that comes with extra people in the ground, both income and expenses, that's not bad.

Huh? We were winning for several seasons with very high attendances. Now we're not winning, attendances are lower. Look at Rovers crowds for the last four or five years, they were low. Now they are winning and so their crowds are high.

After expenses, you'd imagine it's somewhere closer to €35k-€40k. Still mightly impressive income for one game.

Don't forget also the other matchday revenue - food, drink, merchandise, programmes etc.

Could've been more still if they'd let Bohs have extra tickets.

I don't see why they didn't try and maximise the revenue that way.

The Guards set 1,100 as the max. The whole ground was still packed bar the buffer between fans in the east stand and some seats in the Rovers section in the east stand

Galway's is decreasing slowly and will be outside 1K soon

If Dundalk could add an average of 40 it would be 5 teams averaging over 3000, rather than 4. There is the feeling of somthing happening, sustaining it is the challange. If some of those averages were given as % of safe holding capacity they would look even better in some cases.

That's what I was was trying to get at, albeit I accept not very clearly. If 3k is your solid base, but you can get 4k+ regularly, the challenge (for every club, this isn't pointing fingers at Cork) is to see if the artificial high can become the norm. Hopefully numbers'll go back up again soon.

That's a pity. You need to get Michael D on the case!

Corks attendances aren't actually that bad in the grand scheme of the league, it's just that in comparison to previous seasons they're poor and this season attendances are higher than normal so they look bad but for a team, and I don't think Cork fans will mind me saying this, performing pretty poorly and 7th in the league their current average would still be the highest average last season so it's not all doom and gloom. I'd be worried if they dropped any more though.

8,000 seems to be what most media outlets went with at the time it was opening. Haven't seen any official capacity figure anywhere though.

8000 is correct plus or minus 10. The new South stand holds 2,195
    East stand: 2,800
    Main Stand: 3,020

If the East Stand holds 2,800 there must have been way more than 1,100 Bohs fans in it the other night judging by the pictures I saw.
    Here on a technicality.

They didn't go past the half way line and the rows at the front were blocked off.

It's still a shame if there was further demand that some Bohs fans may have missed out if not a 'capacity' crowd. For all the policing that happens at the fixture and that there are games of 50-80k held in Dublin regularly surely Na Gardaí would be well fit to safely manage the additional 'away' fans. Their policy on limiting travelling support is perplexing considering the relatively small numbers overall and that there is little to no trouble in grounds. Those that cause trouble outside of the grounds generally dont actually go to games!
