It's the policing and stewarting in England that is much better thats why this sort of thing isn't seen at English grounds, but don't say Italian hooligans are worse their English counterparts because records and facts prove that is not the case.

What about in 1995 when England fans rioted at a friendly game against Ireland, or when they played Italy in 97 at a World Cup qualifying match, or when a Sheffield United supporter leapt on to the pitch and thumped a linesman unconscious just because he did not agree with a handball decision..
the rioting involving English fans in Marseille in the 1998 World Cup and at Charleroi during Euro 2000

I can go on and on with examples.. But I don't want to take away from what happened last night It was a disgrace...
But I do think The English media are kinda saying were not bad at all sure look at them lot... And they are just as bad if not worse..

Hooliganism has to be looked at on a world wide scale in order to control it

I think a more suitable punishment would be to ban the having support for a good few matches and a hefty fine for the club..
I think the supporters should suffer as well as the club
in 95 they were members of combat 18 and the head hunters not english soccer fans .and in the euro's the roiters were in a different town from the english match's and there for are not english soccer fans just scum bag english . (if a load of irish get in a big fight in anya napa when we are playing greece does that mean they are irish soccer hooligans )
for example the guy who recently hit roy carrol with a coin was caught and banned from all grounds ,same with the guy hitting the linesman attacking savage etc ...but what will happen to the inter fans caught trowing the flares last night ?

can you remember the last game abbandonned because of english fans the irish one in 95 10 years ago is the last one i remember .

god help the liverpool fans tonight

Why was it lucky? It was thrown on the pitch well away from any players, not aimed at anyone in malice. No different from eL grounds when flares are lit after goals....

That one in the Arms Park was one of those shipping ones that is fired from a "gun", rather than a hand held job.

as noby correctly pointed out I was referring to the present day situation. The English still have some but have gone to great lengths to cut this problem out. The Italians have done bugger all. They need to get their house in order now.

sounds more like a fire work than a flare.

It was one of those nautical ones that shoot the flare miles up in the air I think.

    Was Moratti real Inter target?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rumours in Italy are suggesting that last night’s abandonment of the Milan derby was a premeditated attack on Inter owner Massimo Moratti.

The Champions’ League quarter-final between the two Milan clubs was brought to a stop on 73 minutes after Nerazzurri fans threw numerous objects onto the pitch, including a flare at Rossoneri ‘keeper Dida.

It was initially thought that those actions were as a direct response to the fact that Inter had a seemingly good Esteban Cambiasso goal disallowed by referee Markus Merk.

However, sources close to the Curva Nord – the section of the ground that caused the trouble – are allegedly claiming that fans had planned last night’s events for some time.

Numerous e-mails were sent to the ‘Pressing Champions League’ TV programme on Tuesday after the game which seemed to ‘confirm’ such a view.

It’s believed that the objective was to affect Inter both on an economical and image level, in an effort to send Moratti a clear message.

The Inter owner, who has pumped millions into the club over the last decade, doesn’t have a great relationship with some sections of the fans after collecting just one UEFA Cup since he took control of the outfit.
