Exactly, as was my reference to Alan Foley. The furious mounting of high horses reminds why i don't post on foot.ie that often!!!

Both writers are guilty of over complicating the english language unnecesarily. Nobody is say we don't understand big words, however there are examples Alans stuff and in Rico's offering where the end result is a sentence which simply does not make sense.

To be fair to Rico, if you look for the verb and the noun, you will find them roughly where they are meant to be, and his sentences do hang together alright. It is the terms he uses that attract the funny comments, IMO. And some of his words are not in any dictionary either.

I have been forced to revise my muppetry tolerance threshold downwards, so foot.ie is the obvious casualty (present company excepted, of course.)

It has NOTHING AT ALL to do with Pat Dolan, it was an answer to a $hels fan regarding the attitude towards the language and vocabulary Rico uses in his notes. I dare say you have no difficulty in understanding those same notes, and neither have I.

You give me too much credit (as, indeed, you do above, in generously ascribing to me the formulation of the English language.) If truth be told, Rico has sent me scurrying for the nearest dictionary on more than one occasion, albeit merely to confirm whether some of those malapropisms, neologisms and fanciful derivations actually exist

However, I guess it would be much to simple for you to believe that I'm talking about the subject of language, and eL fans understanding of it, especially when you can avail of an opportunity to make some smart-ass comment about Cork City. Or is it because he was once the manager of Rovers, and you simply cannot move on?
