A really class player. Underestimated by most Irish fans I reckon.

He saw off Josemi quickly enough. Is he injured or did Finnan just win out?

Out injured but Finnan has done enough to see him off I think.

Josemi's rumoured to be one for the chop in the summer, Benitez is planning a massive clear out.

The couple of times I've seen him I thought he looked a decent enough player. Other people though who have seen a lot more of him than myself, say he's not up to that level so I wouldn't be surprised if he did go.

He won it for the Pool (or kept them from losing) on Saturday & he was pretty good tonight.

Why can't we just play the guy left full for Ireland, with Carr on the right. He played left full a few times for Fulham. He's streets ahead of O'Shea who's a midfielder to me now (& not a brilliant at the moment) not a full back.

I have always said,Play Finnan on the left and Carr(if he improves) on the right. He is an excellent player and like most players do had a dip in form but has the capability to switch.

Played well tonight but does nothin spectacular..He seemed better when he played for Fulham when he used to go forward at speed. Now he seems to play the percentages and try not to lose the ball. You see he in the same situations over and over again. That and the fact that it seems that he cant shoot thats why people don't rate him I reckon.

I thought he put in a really good performance last night. Defensively very sound, passes well & gets forward well too. 100% reliable. What more do you want in a full-back?

solid defender, I always thought he was born in England though. He did well going forward too. He should be played in his best position for Ireland.

He was brilliant again last night, should be our automatic choice for right back, Carr should not be left near our International team, he's too much of a liability.

Not sure if it was mentioned above but he's Limerick born I think.

Born In Charleville -Lived there till he was 6 when his aul fella got a job in UK
Class act - Best full back in the prem 3 years ago , had a tough time adjusting to Houllier last year and is now back with a bang - He's now as important as Carra is to the defence

yeah i know he was born in limerick, its just the accent when i first heard him on the telly a few years back.

he has done well under benetiz. But at one stage I thought he might not fit into benetiz plans.

Confidence if you ask me. He will get back to form sooner rather than later.
