That could happen to anyone and at least he reacted well after the mistake and scored.Limerick could do with him now ...Always looked a handy player anytime i saw him albeit around 5 times
Anyone see Ciaran Foley's gola for Sligo on eL weekly last night. It was hilarious. The ball dropped to him on the edge of the six yard box with just the keeper in front of him. He swung his right leg at it and completely missed. The keeper dived to block the shot. Then Ciaran just poked it in after the keeper had dived. Good to see he hasn't lost his silken skills.![]()

Yes it could happen to anyone - but to say he was a handy player is stretching it. He is useless. Absolutely full of effort and ruinning and always gave everything. Very brave too - he scored a couple of goals against Cobh in particular (in different matches) and got creased by their keeper for his trouble. He didn't pull out of anything and fair play for that. Ig heart was all that was needed he'd be a superstar. Skill wise however he is seriously lacking.Originally Posted by clownboy

ciaran was a hard man when he came to us last season, was not shy in the tackle. This year he is actually playing good football but seems to be a marked man with other teams...and of coarse the Ref.
I never thought that Ciaran was a bad player, he just wasn't a striker which is what a lot of Limerick fans judged him on. He did well for Limerick at times on the wing and had the skill to dribble past players. When we were up in Sligo last season I was surprised to see him playing in the centre of midfield and how well he played. He looked a lot fitter than when he was with Limerick and really looked the part for Sligo.LFC In Exile "to say he was a handy player is stretching it. He is useless".
I also remember when he scored against Dublin City at Jackman Park a few seasons ago, the same thing happened. He got to the ball before the keeper and scored but ended up been creased by the keeper and was taken off injured. Perhaps that explains why he was so goal shy"Very brave too - he scored a couple of goals against Cobh in particular (in different matches) and got creased by their keeper for his trouble".![]()
Limerick 37, its so shiny and new we dare not take the cover off.
LFC In Exile and Nempton, AFAIK you're both incorrect. Ciaran actually got creased (and stretchered off and taken away in an ambulance eventually) against Derry City in the first leg of the League Cup. He was actually concussed and missed the second leg.
The Dublin City incident that you're talking about Nempton is where Ciaran (showing that courage again) was chasing down the Dublin City keeper whose attempted clearance took him full in the balls and rebounded into the net. Ciaran gamely took a couple of steps in celebration before collapsing in a heap.![]()
The ball is round and has many surprises.
Thanks Mr. Moderator, I hadn't planned in going into detail about the Dublin City incident. Say, you weren't standing beside me at that match were you?![]()
Me thinks you will get a clip behind the ear tomorrow for showing up LFCIE and myself when we head to Sligo![]()

Well for me moderation is as much about correcting those who are wrong as anything else.Originally Posted by Nempton

Ciaran laughed about that goal after the game, he got a bit of a slagging from some of his team mates. These things happen in football pitty not everyone can see the bright side, like it was the winning goal and it put Rovers top of the league, now that for me is the bright side![]()
