Neil Farrugia and Liam Scales offered trials at Man City
Of the two Scales would be the most UK-ready, he has nearly 3 years of first team experience now and looks totally comfortable at PD level. Farrugia still looks a raw talent who needs more experience
The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians
Dundalk have announced Chris Shields has signed 'a long term' deal, doesnt say for how long, but I would imagine its at least 2 more years, possibly 3.

#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).
It's good to see the club continue negotiate with player early and throughout the season rather than waiting for the usual close season wranglings. If penalties dry up and unless he starts taking his chances in front of goal Hoban should take an offer sooner than later or his stock could have fallen by November.
Replied to the DundalkFC announcement of Shields new deal with:
"What a player this lad is.
Nothing but respect for him.
He was there in the dark days when Oriel
was just one stand and a shed"
Followed by some people getting the joke and other saying it was still that!
All it needs is for a DFC fan to chime in and list every tiny improvement made to Oriel since he joined...
That is funny to be fair

O'Neill going to Rovers,Farugia aswell maybe,Scales and Kearns attracting Dundalks attention and Derry after Conor Davis, poor UCD are getting ripped apart....
Irish by birth ,Harps by the grace of god.
Jaysus. Never seen us even linked with so many transfers at one time. Our 19s are only mid-table too. Looks like the best we can aim for now is to lose a play-off.
The idea of Farrugia moving away while still studying in UCD has the potential to undermine the whole point of the club too. Came up with Scales earlier in the year and Dundalk were knocked back. Hope it doesn't become a precedent.
While I would not regard Johnny Ward as having a strong track record, what he is suggesting is interesting.
From Farrugia's perspective a one year deal elsewhere would allow him to step up a level and put himself in a great position to get a substantial personal deal in a years time. Presumably UCD do not have him contracted for next season
The same applies to Scales although he might need longer than a year at full time football. It was noticeably how easily Brian Gartland brushed him off to score last Monday.
I'm not sure that Rovers is the smart move for Gary O'Neil and Dundalk looking at Kearns for goals does not auger well for at least one of Rogers, McCarey or Treacy for next season
Dunno. If they're amateurs, then I guess no contract as such? Timmy Molloy left last month; he's finished college and has gone back home to Galway, presumably for work. Not much you can do in that case.
Georgie Kelly was only on a 6-month deal last year because he knew he was finishing up. Dave McMillan did something similar back in the day too. Quite possible Scales is on something similar this year.
Would have thought Farrugia (who's got a year to go) is under some manner of contract. Thought Davis was signed up on a two-year deal when he joined last year.
Scales looks very, very light to be moving somewhere like Millwall or England in general. I would have assumed someone would have put the arm around him at this stage and given him a high calorie diet plan and strength program by now. I'm not hugely au fait with the practicalities of underage development but I'm surprised it hasn't been addressed.
Most of those rumours don't really make sense Scales to Dundalk or Rovers with Dundalks crazy amount of centre backs they currently have and at Rovers you're contending with Grace, Lopes and O'Brien so regular football at either of those teams isn't certain and he'd be unlikely to play in Europe at either so finishing the season at UCD then moving on and getting a full pre season to impress makes more sense. Going to Millwall when he's not particularly heavy and more a pass it out centre back doesn't make sense either.
Farrugia to Rovers I suppose depends on how keen he is to finish his degree and how flexible him, Rovers and UCD could be with attendance. Bohs doesn't make sense at all, it's a sideways step in that there's no European football this season and next season is far from a sure thing so why move? Make college life so much harder and lose your scholarship for what? To play in the irn bru Cup? Unlikely.
Kearns to Dundalk? Yeah right.
Davis to Derry could be true but there's still a lot of cons to it and no too many pros.
O'Neill to Rovers has been rumoured for a while and with the amount of midfielders at Rovers it's a bit of an odd one but maybe he backs himself to push his way in once he's in a full-time environment.
That's something that's really hard to do drastically in football mid season especially in the LOI at the start when games are so thick and fast. He probably is on a high calorie diet but with so many games it just burns right off and there isn't the time to put in at the gym to put on lots of muscle. It's more something you'd do over pre season or when you start getting break weeks because you can get 3/4 heavy gym sessions in but it'd be stupid to do even one when you're playing Monday Friday
