Some weird looking squads in the league at the moment, considering how into the swing of pre season we are. All of Derry, Sligo and Waterford (who granted will probably recruit from outside the league, and seem to have loads on trial so will probably be fine) seem quite bare in terms of numbers, while Cork are a bit overloaded at the back. Very hard to know what to make of certain teams as it stands.

Could be a good signing! Also good to see the net going well beyond the traditional market areas for players.

It’s unusual alright. I presume this deal was completed last week as the transfer window in the UK is closed.

Strange one indeed. An LOI side loaning a player to a Premier League side, is that a first?

Rovers have a lot of midfielders on their books, so freeing up a salary to get in a striker could be their thinking. The loan aspect is unusual though. Good luck to the lad, he has talent. Like all players making a move to England, he'll need luck too.

Good luck to Aaron he has the potential to make it over there for sure.......Will need the aforementioned luck. Hopefully given our window doesn't close for another 3 weeks they might reciprocate and give us a centre forward

Conor Kenna has signed for LTFC. Had been doing pre season with us so he’s obviously shown enough to get a contract. He’ll be a good experienced head in a young squad too.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

That'll prove to be a very handy signing I reckon. He may have lost a step but he was never exactly blessed with particularly dominant physical attributes or pace anyway, more importantly he's a good leader and a quality defender and organiser, and should still be for at least a season in the FD. As you say the kind of addition a squad like Longford's could do with.

Showed flashes of ability at Bohs but far too infrequently. Derry will need to get a lot more out of him than he showed at Dalymount.
Always looked like he thought he was a bit better than LOI. He wasn't.

Apparently, as per Between The Stripes, we have also signed Sean Brennan on loan from Southampton. Ireland underage player. Seems young to be going out on loan at 17 but maybe they’re allowing him some time at home or something.

Sean Murray has played consistently at a high level during his Watford period and at 25 is still young. Based on his motm performance in the Malone Cup, he could have a serious impact in this team. Interesting times ahead - hopefully he gets some game time in the Presidents Cup on Saturday.

heard this last night on section o messager page when I first heard this I thought this is sean brennan that plays in loi already. unusual transfer this.

in other town news I have heard Carlton Ubaezono has left us. I believe that he changed his mind after training with us and his heart simply wasnt with us after that. What will happen to him after this is anyones guess..
He mustnt have got on with NF and DD.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Stokes definitely worth a punt for Derry. Would've been happy if Bohs kept him. He definitely has a touch of the "thinks he's better than..." about him but he's a decent player. I'd say if you get a bit of fire in his belly you'll be on to a winner.
