Johnny Dunleavy gone to Sligo. Brilliant signing in the event he can stay fit at all.

Bucko making some good moves so far...bit discouraging on this end.

pretty sure that Johnnys dad is Damien Dunleavy - he would have played for Sligo Rover,Finn Harps and Longford Town. is that correct?
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Would be a decent signing if he can stay fit and injury free, but the last few seasons wouldn't point a too healthy picture on that. I read he was at Cork for 6 years, would be interesting to see his starts in that.

Mind you O'Donnell with Dundalk prob not much better, interesting to see if he will get a new deal, as he's out of contract. I think i`d like to see him offered a one year deal.

Buckley fairly making changes and some decent players too, he obviously had a list he wanted to target.

Sligo fans - do you think he will live over there ? He should really, too far to comutte.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Jack Byrne to Shamrock Rovers is a done deal apparently.

We didn't exactly need another midfielder, but massive signing if true.

Genuine question why would it be a massive signing? Someone that wasn't kept on by Oldham and Kilmarnock is hardly all that exciting really? And if it's cos he showed potential before the league is full of those.

In my opinion he's an absolute class act.

Definitely suits a team that tries to play football, plays similar to Keith Fahey & Wes Hoolahan. These types of players are often overlooked by many managers. Does not suit lower English leagues.

I used watch highlights every week from the Dutch Eredivisie league, he tore sh!t up at that level and was considered one of the top players in the league. His best performances always seemed to come against the bigger sides like PSV, Feyenoord and Ajax which was a good sign.

I think he will do very well in the LoI this year and, potentially, a massive signing indeed.

He was doing well at oldham, but the club was a shambles and he voiced his opinion on it. The fans all wanted him to play and were ****ed off when they let him go.

People say he has a bad attitude but the same was said about graham burke so well wait and see.

In one of the interviews he did when he was first appointed he said he was looking for a place to live.

Potentially a very good signing for Rovers. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on. The same things were said about Conor Clifford when we signed him.

Yeah, that was a gamble that didn't pay off.

Jack Byrne could end up being an inspired signing or simply yet another washed up player who went off the rails after showing tremendous early career promise.

It must be difficult for Rovers fans to engender any real confidence in Bradsers ability to manage such a young headstrong character who has shown lots of disciplinary problems.

It will also be interesting to see how the manger lines up tactically with Watts, McEneff, A Bolger, Finn, Byrne, and others all in the mix for central midfield places.

Interesting times ahead, especially if Rovers sign a proper striker and some defenders

I stlll think Clifford can carve out a decent career. How do Pats fans rate him?

Has quality on the ball but he is far too slow and not nearly mobile enough for me.
A bit like Owen Garvan but not as good.

Could be a good signing but it just seems weird that Rovers are signing another midfielder. Seems a bit unnecessary and as though they just took him because the opportunity was there.

Can't speak for other Pats fans but I have high hopes for Clifford next season. He got a rough time of it when he started because Bucko tried to rush him into the team despite clearly being unfit (and his performances showed as much), but once he settled he really kicked on and was one of our best performers toward the end of the season. He's not had much luck the last few years but I have a feeling that he'll show himself to be a very good player at this level next season now that he'll be settled with a team local to him where he'll more than likely be starting most weeks.

I think he's a better bet. He's already done the business for a full season at senior level in a quality European league. I remember reading that he gave more successful passes into the final third than any other Eredivisie player in 2016. He was also made the Eredivisie team of the month, all from the bottom team. Whereas most players Graham Burke, Conor Clifford.. were less sure bets. I'm open to correction but I don't think they had shown any degree of success at senior football level before returning home.

Not at all. He was in a similar situation when Graham Burke came back from England and got the best out of him; so I'd be very confident actually.
Very excited to see how this will work out.

Byrne is more comparable a signing to Richie Towell than Clifford, and if Graham Burkes comments are anything to go by Bradley is, like it or not Ez, probably one of the better placed managers in the league to get the best out of him.

Are you suggesting that Bradley is some sort of motivational genius?

His repeated "it's their cup final" and a myriad or other pre-match utterances indicate that he has a certain penchant for motivating the opposition.

If Byrne has a scintilla of the personal discipline and drive that Richie Towell displayed, even the erratic Bradser won't derail him. His more recent decline and disciplinary issues at Wigan, Oldham and Kilmarnock don't augur well for him though for getting back on track.
