Barry-Murphy loses the tip of his ear!

    eleven-a-side.com OUCH!

Two of Bury’s Irish contingent, under-21 international defender John Fitzgerald and former Cork City man Brian Barry-Murphy, have shipped injuries of varying gruesomeness over the past week.

Fitzgerald, who was on duty with the Irish squad in Israel last week, returned from Tel-Aviv with a hip problem and is doubtful for the Shakers’ clash with Rochdale at Gigg Lane today (Saturday).

Barry-Murphy, on the other hand, is also a doubt for the game after losing part of his left ear in an accidental clash of heads with Chester’s Michael Branch last weekend.

The 26-year-old courageously player on for the remainder of the game, and is expected to continue in Graham Barrow’s side today.

Barrow said: "He looked like he’d been in with Mike Tyson but he’s just about alright because he feels alright and hasn’t got a concussion.”

TBH I don't know why BBM is wasting his time with them. He seems to have an obsession with playing in England. You look at Bury's attendances and we often get FAR more than them, and we could pay him decent wages at this stage.

Article in the Indo today with Jimmy BM where they talk about Brian and how he "loves being a professional footballer in England!"
He says "Bury may not be the most glamerous of clubs but he is enjoying it"

I'll say it again, he is really a nobody over there playing for a 3rd rate side. If he was to return to City he would, no doubt, be up there with Gamble, Georgie, Flynny & Kearney etc from an ability and adoration perspective.

He would also be contending for trophies, playing in Europe (remember Fenn's comments last summer about getting the opportunity of playing against such high class opposition).

If anyone watches Sky and their reviews of the lower Leagues in England you'll see the football is a lot worse than here, the stadia are no better than The Cross, Tolka, Dalymount etc.

Methinks it's more to do with his personal life that the football........he's probably gotten himself another distraction which is the deciding factor.

Would he even get into the city team now? No place in midfield or left full. Centre back?
