    German football

Seeing Leipzig doing well at the moment in the Bundesliga, I was wondering has any team of the former GDR ever won the Bundesliga since unification. On looking at the record, no they haven't but since Leipzig is only the recent creation of an energy drink company, it won't count https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ball_champions

Didn't realise Bayern have been as dominant as they have been. Surprised that my brother's team, Eintract Frankfurt, have only won it once. Interesting to see the Rapid Vienna side winning it during the War.

You've reminded me of a good quiz on the BBC website from last week.

Name the 14 German clubs to have played in the Champions League group stage - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45710889

Correct spelling critical. I got 11.

None of them did, but you figured that already. Actually, none of them even came close (as you say, Leipzig don't count as they were established later).
By the time the two League systems were merged (Summer 1991), the "old" Bundesliga clubs had already hoovered up the best players from the eastern clubs for very little money. So the western clubs had a considerable advantage, and the eastern clubs were never really able to catch up.

Off the top of my head Bayern M, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Hoffenheim, Schalke, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Wolfsburg and Bremen and that's about it (9). So who are the missing 5 ?

You can reveal them by starting the quiz and clicking the 'give up' option down the bottom. And then 'show answers' from the top. I won't spill them here in case anybody else wants a crack at it.

Just had a look at the table. Dortmund 6 points ahead of the mighty Bayern. I see the apparent "colour blind" (according to Wikipedia) Thomas Delaney plays for them. Very tough for a midfielder to be colour blind or is someone having a go at him for always passing to the opposition

That Low remained as coach after their 2018 and NL performances is mind-blowing. That he hasn't resigned in face of the 6-0 drubbing is bizarre. Though I reckon I guess, that he's waiting on a mutually agreed departure.

Löw remains in charge until the Euros: https://www.dfb.de/en/news/detail/dfb-management-backs-joachim-loews-direction-for-the-national-team-222343/
I'd say he'll have to make at least the semis to stay on beyond that.
