Celtic v Ireland on TV

Wonder if RTE will show the game? anyone heard? but lately Tnag seem to have got a few Celtic games so I'd put my money on them

Why would they want to televise a mutual love in with a club side that is being staged to put money in the pocket of a Scotsman, who with a name like McNamara could probably have declared for us ?

These games are utter crap and I have a problem with the use of the national team to make a rich man evern richer. There are far more deserving causes than Jackie MacNamara.

the FAI are getting a decent appearance fee for playing this match and also getting some much needed match practice in particular for the players whose season will end well before the israel match.

so dont think that the fai are just playing this game to line the pockets of jackie mc.

Probably because there will be alot of interest in it from football fans in Ireland, like it or not.

Testimonials for anyone (other than perhaps players of by gone days who have fallen on hard times) leave me cold. The games lack any sort of seriousness whatsoever and just put money in the pockets of players who have been already been paid more money in a year than we would see in a lifetime.

I go to every Irish friendly against another country but stay away from testimonials.

fairy nuff. I tend to agree and its great that Gary Kelly and Quinner have donated large sums (all, in the case of Quinn) to charity in the recent history of testimonials. Mcnamara is donating some (i don't know how much) to a charity, cancer related I think.

The bottom line is, the game itself will be crap. Its an opportunity for Celtic fans to show their grattitude to Jackie, a great servant to Celtic. Its an opportunity for Ireland fans to have a good p*ssup in Galsgow for a weekend. Thats why there will be aq decent enough attendance.

McNamara's mother died of cancer only a few years ago and he has been donating to a cancer charity ever since. What do you think he'll do with his money? Do a bit of research before spouting out things like that.

Well, hopefully McGeady will play for one of the teams, and it will be a chance for us Ireland fans to see how he does.

I dont think it will be on normal TV, probably setanta or maybe Celtic's own TV channel (I think they have a subscription one on Sky).

He's donating 100K to cancer research and good luck to him. The rest he keeps I assume.

Mentioned elsewhere that Kerr is a Rangers' fan and that's why he didn't play McGeady

Strange therefore that he's bringing his Irish team to Glasgow to honour a Celtic player and turning up as a guest at one of the fund raising events. He must really hate Celtic

All that said is "it is reported". He has not said how much he'll give to charity but he's not the money grabbing type.

It'll be a run out for some of the fringe players before the Israel game and a chance for Kerr to try out the Kilbane / Kavanagh partnership again. It's nice that McNamara is donating some cash to a worthwhile cause, after that, I couldn't give a toss.
