Disappointing for Regional ,one would assume they will appeal.Hard to see any change to the outcome however, though with the Fai never know.
First post guys but i felt i should reply. Regional have done nothing wrong or illegal. Rule 22.1 of the FAI Rule book states "Any player aged ten (10) years or over wishing to be registered within the jurisdiction of the Football Association of Ireland having LAST BEEN REGISTERED within another jurisdiction must obtain an International Transfer Certificate ("ITC"). The player in question was LAST REGISTERED by the LDMC. This enabled him to play for AA in season 2017/2018. Therefore there is no onus on Regional to have an ITC. The player in question has been abroad for the last number of weeks but no transfer form was signed by Regional for him to sign elsewhere or no ITC was requested by another jurisdiction for him to play elsewhere, he has always been a registered Regional player.
I do not know if AA got an ITC for him to play with them that season but that is of no concern to Regional as his LAST REGISTRATION was signed for and accepted by the LDMC. He also played in the FAI cup that year. If AA did not receive an ITC for him then every game he played with them that season he would have been illegal, teams have lost cup games, league games and two relegated incorrectly if that was the case. If AA did receive an ITC he would have been a legal player with AA, meaning Regional do not need an ITC, meaning they have no case to answer and if he was illegal then rule 22.1 still applies as his LAST REGISTRATION was still signed and accepted by LDMC.
On another note it would be interesting to discover who informed Sheriff.
Final set for May 11.
Lengthy appeals were done away with weren’t they? Regional probably get one appeal and no more?
You’d imagine the appeal will be some time this week.
Wow this seems straight forward , how in gods name did sheriff get reinstated ffs crazy stuff.
Arbitration is most likely
Semifinal involving the Regional/Sheriff/Westport/Ashling teams postponed.
I am not sure you can appeal twice, appeal to the senior body and if they turn you down the case can be heard in arbitration. The fai junior council need to start adjusting the rule book. Wesport local league states the AA player should have been suspended but the local league states he’s just suspended for local games. I can’t even see the argument on the regional objection, according to rule 22 they have done nothing illegal. But there is so many loopholes in the rule book that it needs serious reviewing
Semi Final Result
St Michaels 2-0 Glengad Utd
Sheriff YC v Aisling Annacotty TBC
(Regional Utd and Westport Utd appealing)
Another final for Mick's
Well done to the super saints
Well done saints , great club with great history
