Very Sad news this morning as we have learned about the death of our vice president Paschal Quinn.
Paschal was a brilliant footballer for us well before my time in the 1950s and 1960s and had been serving as our honorary vice president the last number of years. I remember him receiving a waterford crystal boot before one of the cup finals in 2003 and 2004 in landsdowne road in recognition of his great goalscoring achievements for the club.
Paschal had been in regular attendance at home matches up until about a year ago when his health deteriorated and many of you will surely remember him from his teaching days as principal in melview national school where he is fondly remembered also.
A true club legend he deserves a good send off in the Cork match this weekend
May he rest in peace.
we are going up
RIP Paschal. A gentleman, and a fine player in his day by all accounts. He must have been into his 80s at this stage.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Yeah he was 86. I see the club have released a few nice tweets in his memory.
just heard the sad news about Paschal. didnt realise he was 86. he was part of our side that reached the Leinster Senior Cup final in 54/55 against Shamrock Rovers and also won an intermediate cup medal that season when Jacobs didnt show for that final and also reached the FAI cup semis that season v Waterford also.
He spent nine seasons with us and played with us from 51/52 to 56/57 seasons and also from 62/63 to 64/65 seasons as well. I am pretty sure he would have played with other local sides also.
He wrote for our match programme up as recently as eleven years ago and was highly thought of in the club. I wouldnt have known Paschal but would have being aware of his high standing in Longford.
May he rest in peace.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
