i was in the heart of the shed and i must admit, the biys with the drums were brilliant, even before the game they handed out the rolling paper and connfetti(spelling????)b and even these small whistles.![]()

I suppose I'll get a barrage of abuse for this, but has it occurred to anyone that maybe Dolan himself was the reason we couldn't beat $hels?Originally Posted by tiktok
Dolan built $hels into something they are not and put huge extra pressure on us to beat them. He had a team that were well capable of beating them, as evidenced by our results away to them when we should have beaten them twice last season, but seemed more focused on their team and club than on City and how we would beat them.
Some of Dolans obssessions did not help the team, at the very least.
I have to say though that it looked like he was enjoying the game last night, and I reckon he was thrilled with the result.

Cork City: Making 'Dream Team' seem realistic since 2007.
Why the rolleyes. It sounds like they were making an effort, were you too concerned with what your mates might think to join in.Originally Posted by rebel army no1

well said tiktok, the more people get involved the better
Yeah, sorry, wrong choice of words, a few of us were talking about that in PJs after the game, and I what I meant to say was that had it occurred to anyone else besides yourself.....Originally Posted by tiktok

Well, we can have no complaints last night. We decided to play hoof-ball again and paid the price. Cork seemed hungrier in the second half and deserved the win. We barely had a single chance all night.
Both sending off incidents happened over the far side of the pitch, so couldn't really tell what happened, but friends watching on telly were pretty incensed by George.
It was strange, but it didn't really feel that bad losing to Cork last night. Okay, bitterly disappointed about our performance, but losing to a Rico-led Cork doesn't hurt as much as losing to a Dolan-led Cork. It remains a wonderful memory that in the nine games we played in his two seasons in charge, he failed to beat us once!!

But surely this will ne no good to you cos when Dolan gets another side you'll be there quicker than you can get to the Horseshoe 10 minutes before half time.Originally Posted by thecorner

Maybe Dolan just had bad luck with the timing of his departure. Since last season, our young squad has grown another year older while a lot of the Shels squad are in the 27 to 29 bracket. We may have seen the last of the Shels golden era, and the start of a sweet spell for City.![]()

Well Dolan went on and on and on about $hels, moaning and complaining about them one minute, saying they are the best, we are a long way behind them, we must try to be like them etc. etc. the next minute.Originally Posted by Fair_play_boy
They are no better or worse than a few other sides in this league, and that has been proved so many times when we play them. You get the impression from listening to all the hype that they are a team of unbeatable supermen, when all they really have over other teams is confidence and the spirit to fight until the last second. How many times over the last few years have you seen a City/$hels games and came away thinking that $hels can be fairly poor?
As for the their "gloden era", $hels have always been bottlers when the pressure is on. With the money they are spending now, the so-called "stars" they have to keep happy and Nuttsy's honeymoon well over, this is going to be a tough season for them. You can see how they cannot take any kind of a loss, or handle a team that stands up to their thuggery. If they don't get a run of 4 or 5 wins together, things will start falling apart rapidly there.
Did you hear the one about the baldy headed steward who came into the shed after the game and said whistles are banned, and if we bring them in again we won't be allowed into the ground for the rest of the season?Originally Posted by rebel army no1
I kid you not!!
NOW do you understand when I say we have the worst stewards in the world??!!
Football is life. The rest is mere detail...
Hardly that unreasonable is it? I couldn't hear refs whistle half the time & think few incidents with the players too.Originally Posted by colblimp
i agree with pete. you have to hear the refs whistle and they could end up having games postponed if the ref can't be heard
Any oldies remember the Phantom Whistler from olden days?
Shels are still a very good team. We only beat them 1-0. People go over the top when we lose and when we win.Originally Posted by patsh
Nutsy's honeymoon - what the hell are you talking about, hes just won 2 league championships in a row.
Can you point me to where I said $hels are not a good team?Originally Posted by harry crumb
As for Nuttsy's honeymoon, there was a much lower level of expectation on him the last two seasons. Now that he has gone out and signed the so-called "galaticos" (What a joke...), he is expected to win the league/Cup double, the Setanta and go farther in Europe. That kind of pressure has never been on him before.
Every year shels are expected to win the title. The money they outlay every year means that the manager is always expected to win the league.
Thats why they've been the most succesfull club over the last 10 years.
