Why get a rugby star who is not even from Dundalk to do this ?

Beacuase he's someone who will draw a crowd and its soemthing different. In fairness the obvious choice is Stan, but in equal fairness, hes hardly news any more and it wouldnt be his first visit.

Just doesnt make sense to me thou. He's from Wicklow and plays rugby, what has that got to do with Dundalk and a plastic football pitch.

Was thinking that myself. Was wondering why they couldn't get some former Dundalk great to lauch it.

i was enlightened by watching Tv3Sports Tonight last night where Byrne was revealed as a director of the company supplying the pitch.
