That's a pity. With Randolph the age he is, we could really do with a steady GK who might climb a division or two in the coming years. No guarantees yet on Bazunu or even Kelleher.

Ben Garratt, currently the Burton Albion first choice keeper, has just signed a new two-year contract.

Anyone know is O'Hara injured or is it just the above mentioned loss of form from the end of last season that has him out of the team?

O'Hara (25) has been signed by Scunthorpe (EFL 2) on an emergency 7-day loan basis. (BBC Football 20/11/21).

Given the length of the loan, I won't update the title.

Barring injuries I think it’s a fairly safe bet that these two will be our goalkeepers for the next ten years at least.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

"Fleetwood Town have signed goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara on a short-term deal, after Burton Albion terminated his contract by mutual consent. O'Hara, 25, played three games on loan at Scunthorpe on an emergency loan but has otherwise not featured this season". (BBC Football 1 Feb).

Hopefully O'Hara can get his career back on track with this move.

Strange to say it for a lad who used to appear reasonably regularly in squads, but he must be at best seventh choice for us now, behind all of Bazanu, Kelleher, Travers, Randolph, Bonham and O'Leary, with Talbot probably ahead of him too.

This is why you don't pin your hopes on youth players. Some of them make it. More of them don't.

Released by Fleetwood after playing only seven games. May be looking at dropping another division next season

His career is in a bit of a tailspin now. Unfortunately the only time I ever seem to see him is when he drops absolute clangers every now and then on the EFL goals show.

Has come in way below the level that was hoped for back when he got the Ireland caps. I can't see him winning any more caps to be honest. His level is lower league or maybe even non league.

I'm always curious about careers like his. Man United didn't keep him on the books that long because he's rubbish. Surely he's better than non-league? He must be running out of chances though.

Not playing consistently in professional mens football until his early 20s doesn't help for young keepers at these top clubs. Almost all the ones that make the cut go out on loan when they're young. Same reason I'd be worried for Caoimhin who turns 24 this year and will be lucky to get his 20th senior club game before then. Obviously he's a higher level of player than O'Hara, but players need to play to not stagnate.

This season alone, both Mark Travers and Gavin Bazunu have played more than twice the games that Kelleher has in his entire career, and both players are younger
Anyone remember Steve Harper, the sub keeper at Newcastle when Shay Given was there? Was supposed to be an excellent keeper in his own right, but only played 199 games for Newcastle in the 20 years he was at the club*. We really don't want that to happen to Kelleher.

    *according to wikipedia.

There wasn’t a whole lot between Harper at his best and Shay Given. If I recall correctly Harper kept a fit ( fit coming back from injury ) Shay Given out of the Newcastle team.

I seem to remember Given throwing his toys out of the pram and slapping in a transfer request when he wasn't immediately reinstated in the team upon returning from injury, despite, as you say, Harper performing very capably during Shay's absence.

Shay wasn’t beyond the odd strop.

To be released by a weak* League 2 club... not really the career expected of him, is it?

*They finshed 20th, three places above relegation.
