It was a knee-jerk reaction to all lose our heads yesterday, after the way the match unfolded and the tremendous opportunity we blew. However, at the end of the day, we're still in pole position en route to Germany. Things won't be quite as comfortable as they could have been, or should have been, but do we ever do anything the easy way? In fact, we could be better off as is. Had we held on to win, we'd be favourites to top the group- and don't we love being favourites?
What was worse, giving up that 1 goal lead yesterday, or the 2 goal lead last WCQ campaign against Holland? Hopefully we can finish this campaign just as well.
A draw between Israel and France Wednesday would be mighty, but even if France win it's not the end of the world. Do we not intend on beating Israel in Dublin?
France, Israel, and Switzerland all have to come to Lansdowne Rd. We're like night and day at home and away, yet we've managed to get draws away to all 3.
In Tel Aviv, we were afraid to win, and afraid to lose. The same could be said of Basel, to a lesser extent Paris where we had the best showing of the 3 matches. But who or what do we fear at Lansdowne?
Point taken & largely accepted!
What do I fear in Dublin? Another poor performance like against Albania & Russia.
I think we'll be OK though.
