Keane have gone past the point of boring me too, "somewhere only we know" will still hold my attention but that's about it.

I don't mind Coldplay's use of piano, but then it's peripheral, Ben Folds Five were about the only band I can think of at the moment who used piano well.

Loving the Rilo Kiley album at the moment

While there are plenty of good piano-based songs, there are a lot less bands that predominantly use piano, and as you say use it well.

One of my favourite artists is Nick Cave, and, being a piano playing singer songwriter, most of the bad seeds songs use piano.

Surprised no-one has mentioned 'Mylo - Destroy rock n' roll'. Mild dance music (i.e. won't give you a nose bleed) with some great tunes in there.

Just got 'Thunder Lightning Strike' by 'The Go! Team' . An absolutely superb album. Infectiously lively and uplifting music from start to finish - sounds like the soundtrack to a cartoon super-hero film (imagine an album full of tunes in the vain of 'Self Preservation Society' from The Italian Job). Mild dance with a complete mix of loads of different influences - would inject energy into someone in a coma.

A bit wacky, but get it - you won't be disappointed....

Click here to listen to a few tunes on their site : http://www.thegoteam.co.uk/layout.html

    Listen in the following order : 3, 4, 2, 5, 1.

To hear more than 3 tunes you have to register, but it's literally a 10sec job.

for something further afield, the band Sightings have this amazing record 'arrived in gold' - what a clatter, the songs sound half-formed and bizarre, imagine a demonically possessed fridge trying to play a guitar

for something sunnier and unrelentingly groovy, it is difficult at present to top M.I.A.'s 'arular' - great london/sri lankan lass incorporates grime, bhangra, and lotsa vocal undulations for the sexiest political record ever

Me too, seen him 2002 when he supported Manics in the point but didn't know much of his solo stuff then. So really looking forward to him.

Strong rummors that the Stone Rosses expierence(formely the complete stone roses) are playing too. Senn them a few years ago as close as you get to the real thing

They do a great gig and seem to always sell out in Dublin. One of the best gigs I've ever been to was The Complete Stone Roses at the Olympia two Christmas' ago. Played This is the One for about 10 minutes! I'll be hoping for announcement of their addition to the bill. Fingers crossed.
