Not a bad selection hombre (I have J5's other two albums if you wish to borrow them) So, I'll agree with 'Hot Fuss' as well add in 'Blackout' by 'The Dropkick Murphy's, 'Ocean Rain' by 'Echo and the Bunnymen' and also 'Four Lads who Shook the Wirral' by Half Man Half Biscuit.
Where am I now? I'm over here,
I've got those empty pockets and I can't afford a beer.

    Christ there's so many

    The Cinematic Orchestra "Everyday"

    Nightmares on Wax "Carboot Soul"

Harry Nilsson "A Little Touch Of Schmilsson In The Night"

Jay Z and DJ Dangermouse "The Grey Album"

    Wu Tang Clan "The W"

and a lot more that i cant think of..
Whatever it was I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?

    Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
    Jimmy Eat World - Futures
All American Rejects - All American Rejects
Funeral For A Friend - Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation
    Lostprophets - Start Something
The Beautiful Mistake - This Is Who You Are
Dashboard Confessional - The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most
Good Charlotte - The Chronicles Of Life And Death
    Blink 182 - Blink 182
Matchbox 20 - Mad Season (I know it's old but it took a first break up with an American girl to really get me into Matchbox 20)
The Killers - Hot Fuss (but only the first half or so, it runs out of steam then)

I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a few worthy contenders but what the hey...

I've been 'upgrading' a lot of my tapes to cd recently, so a fair chunk of what I've bought is old.
Some of the albums I've got for the first time round:
Nick Cave's last one (the double album)
    Ballboy - Club Anthems
    British Seapower
    Trojan Skinhead Reggae boxset
    Morrissey
    Ceci n'est pas une signature

I have some of their stuff. They're ok, can't really listen to them any more as the keyboardist just ****es me off. Don't get me wrong I like keyboards in metal (eg. Children of Bodom) but Jordan Rudess is more like hmmm... I think I'll put a big keyboard solo here just to impress everybody.

It isn't the most technical I've ever heard. Listen to Spiral Architect if you want to hear the most technical stuff ever! One of their albums even comes with a health warning!

But again prog metal is a bit too "wow look at me I'm doing a massive sweep/tap/shred at 1000 notes a second" for me. Music always comes first, anything impressive after that is only a bonus.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't like these uber technical bands, but its just my opinion on them.

Very true but if you've only gotten into it in the last twelve months you deserve a slap anyway! It is 18 years old now after all.

Now you see, I really liked thier album. Got me through my dissertation. Think they are a bit of a marmite band though - You either love them or hate them.
