While I do agree that it's a bit out of line and off topic it's pretty much universally known. All that was left out was the link between that and Mike Ahearne's acrimonious first departure from Limerick. It was a silly spat at the time in one sense and I'd hoped it had been resolved. it's understandable though that a number of people have raised eyebrows at Mike's inexplicable dropping not from the team but from the squad for the Monaghan match. Given that Ahearne lost his place while other players (naturally O'Brien would head the list) kept theirs it was unavoidable really though it maybe could have been phrased a bit more delicately by Jebus.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

I think you'll find that it was resolved a long time ago. Surely if the problem that is being referred to actually existed, then he wouldn't be in the squad, not dropped from it. This issue has absolutely no bearing on anything to do with the club. Why bring it up now??

I find it hard to believe that NOC would sign a player who he has issues with, but if he did, well that's just plain stupid. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt for now

Because of Ahearne's inexplicable dropping I'd imagine? I wouldn't have brought it up myself but to be honest it did cross my mind. Why do you think Ahearne was dropped? Not just from the team remember but from the squad. It was a strange decision to say the least, especially with a couple of the others holding their places.

I salute O'Connor and Ahearne both (but more NOC to be fair) if the problem is resolved. But if anybody thought that it wouldn't be brought up after such a strange dropping they're living in a very, very wonderful innocent place indeed!

Its a matter that happened a long time ago, and one that has been resolved between the concerned parties, and it is nobody elses business. It does not belong on this forum. I'm sure neither of the two parties involved want any of this dragged up again, and as I said earlier, if it was something that was going to affect either of them then a contract would either have been not offered in the first place, or refused when offered. That none of them happened should suggest that both parties are interested in football, nothing else, and I think that such innuendo does nobody any good.....keep it in the pubs and terraces.

It's an unofficial eircom League forum, as far as I'm concerned it might as well be a pub with no drink. The previous club committee made a habit out of regularly going through the roof about what was written here, I'd hate to see the current owners go down that route too.

The internet is a place where people can express their views freely (within obvious boundaries obviously). But just because something is history doesn't mean it can't be discussed.

The point was raised in relation to the policy of team selection. That's what made it relevant here. It's an awkward, touchy subject that won't benefit anybody by being exhumed periodically but it's a little bit sad to suggest that something that embarrasses certain individuals should never be discussed.

    Allow me to reiterate.

    I didn't write it.

    I wouldn't have written it.

That doesn't exclude it for discussion.

What you could (and perhaps as PR guy should have done) is something like this:

"Jebus, you're making an incorrect assumption there. I know that the issue you raised had nothing to do with Mick being chopped from the squad because A) Noel isn't that type of person, B) reason eile and C) reason eile."
The ball is round and has many surprises.

While I fully accept this slap on the wrist from Eanna and the delting of my post I do still believe it to be a relevant comment Joe in regards to Noel's selection policy. I wasn't at the Cobh game, but by all accounts Mick was one of our better players, nor was I a Limerick FC fan when the incident took place, so I go by what I'm told, or what I take from conversations. On the terraces on the night of the Mons game the subject was broached by quite a few people, and the majority were of the same opinion as myself, tha Aherne was left out for the very reason that I mentioned. Basicaly I agree with SLKs comments about wording it differantly, and with his views that this is a public forum and it has every right t be hear. Its high time some LFC football fans and club members realise that we aren't living in a world of make believe where all is nice and rosey in the Eircom League/Limerick FC. Some of us are disgruntled with the adminstration and will use PUBLIC attacks on PUBLIC officals of the club. A manager of any football club should realise this, as should the PR man of any club, and if anything at least realise that my comments are rooted in a factual event and not in the real childish insults that some football fans resort to (see David Beckham's career in regards to this).
